	Log in to remove this advertisement I'm looking to spend around $100, maybe a bit more or less, to upgrade my CPU for Guild Wars 2 and to make gameplay in all my many other games smoother. I currently have an Athlon II X4 640 at 3GHz. I'd like to know what AMD CPU would be a nice upgrade for me within a reasonable price range. My GPU is a Radeon HD5770 and my PSU is 750watts. ------------------- I like bewbs an' stuff.

	Other than a Phenom II X4 965, or the FX CPUs there aren't other alternatives close to your price range. This is the best I can find but it's $20 over your budget, the alternative is the FX4100 but that is $10 above your price range. The FX CPUs require an AM3+ socket, whereas the Phenom requires an AM3 or AM3+ socket. Would help to know your motherboard TBH to see what CPUs it supports. I can't be sure how much of an extra kick you'll get from that, especially with that graphics card. Based on the system requirements of the game, an upgrade to the CPU may not be needed. It would probably be more worthwhile upgrading your graphics card although again, better alternatives such as the HD6850 or a GTX460 are just slightly out of your budget.

	Your cpu is fine for the game and well above the recommended. The graphics card is likely what is holding you back. All of the CPU's around your price point would only be a very small step up.
