well AMD seems to surprise us each time with its products,the last one being AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition,i cannot but say u've done the work right u guys at AMD,keep on the hard work,thats what we gamers/PC nuts loves to see.
P.S. Intel should lower down its motherboards prices to compete with AMD's best.

AMD owns intel on low-mid range, I'd never buy intel unless I'm getting the i7, even then this CPU would probably outperform the i7 920, even more so when overclocked. The only thing I'd worry about is the ability to upgrade later to Phenom III or whatever. Its also harder to find quality amd boards vs intel boards especially if you want tri-sli/crossfire. If only amd had better notebook processors then they could compete.

This isn't a true or correct response. AMD is constantly trying to compete with Intel and their power consumption does not double that of an equivalent Intel CPU.

Here is a graph showing a i7 920 power consumption as compared to a Phenom II X4 940 (these 2 should be comparable, however the Intel is a higher end CPU over the AMD, as well as a newer CPU).

AMD made the stupid mistake of not seeing revenue and profits in the netbooks thinking it was a fad. Because of this they never truly developed a CPU similar to the Atom. If they had gotten in early, netbooks would most definitely be cheaper as we see a trend of AMD CPUs being much cheaper than Intel.

Just because AMD CPUs run slightly hotter than Intel doesn't mean they pack double the power. Lots of factors goes into heat production.

Yeah, but the Phenom II X4 and Core i7 920 has been out for a long time as well. Also, the speed they tested it at might be the stable over clock speed for each CPU.

correction, the x4 is more power hungry. the i5 is about the same price as the 965, and beats the 965 by a decent amount.
