Ayla's weapon is based on her level. The last two weapons are great. The second to last gives you confusion. Once you hit about level 95 you get the 9999 on crit damage, but you crit less it seems. This actually can make the strategies for using her harder in the black fortress. With a gold stud her techs become her bread and butter, but sometimes a bit of crit to do a fast 2k is great in combo with Crono's high crit 70% or 90% DS version weapon.

Robo also gets a weapon that gives him a 9999 on crit in the new DS version. It sucks tbh. Magus's weapon does 4x on crit with 180 attack and his high natural hit and evade. In combination with Robo's shitty techs and combo techs, this makes Magus by far better then the robot even with his crit weapon and the new Accessory that boosts crit rating. Ayla also gets a new assesory that boosts her crit rate and gives 50% counter rate. Believe it or not but Marlie pwns with her new weapon. It does 777 if it hits. This allows you to kill enemies with high magic or physical resistances without relying upon strategy to do so. As long as you can HIT them you can kill them with this bow instead.

Auto battle ranking:
Ayla (9999 on crit plus having high hit rating and evasion)
Robo (9999 on crit with new weapon but has lower hit rating and normal attack.)
Marle (777 is alot against high resistance enemies)
Crono (70% SNES or 90% DS crit weapons makes him better overall then Ayla.)
Ayla (with second to last weapon has much higher crit chance and is stronger in most instances as well as having the confusion effect.)
Magus with new 4x crit weapon.
Frog with powered up masumune.
Robo with new dino weapons.
Frog or magus.
Everyone else.

Just finished all the endings in the game and am working on getting the last few items I am missing, including the two tripple tech stones I keep forgeting to get. (silver and gold) They are out of the way so they are harder to remember to get. Silver is found in prehistoric area near the end of the game, given to you by the Nu that lets you change your party names in the villiage of pussies that was burned out earlier in the game during your second visit to the prehistoric era. (Located north of the Cheif's hut) Gold can only be obtained after you upgrade the Masamune. Then you put frog as party leader and go back to the Mountain where you got the Masamune to catch the stone the ninja keeps throwing at you.

Oh yeah Ayla's weapons are shown in my extras menu:
Fist lvl 1-23
Fist lvl 24-47
Fist lvl 48-71
Iron Fist lvl 72-95 (Effect: adds confusion)
Bronze Fist lvl 96+ (Effect: 9999 damage on critical hits)

Her attack power for these weapons is based on her strength. Each time she levels up to a new weapon she gains a new attack power multiplyer for her strength. I wish they would have let you choose to use either Iron or Bronze fist when you get them both. Most enemies you auto attack don't have more then 2k hp so having a high rate of crit and adding confusion is more then adequate in most instances. It makes her weaker when she levels over 95 which to me always pissed me off. Of course by then you will have gold studs and be able to crush thing with your techs, but it is still irksome to me to have a character weaker at a higher level.

She was doing about 1k normal damage. Her crit was 2k. Jumping to almost 10k is a bit much for a few levels. That would make her way too strong. I get why they did the change. I just wish it was a toggle option.

If her crit rate was the same and she had this damage boost there wouldn't be much point in giving her anything but gear that boosts her crit rate.

9999 on crit weapon
New haste helm+status keep
New protect/shell armor
New crit accessory +50% counter

Maybe swap out the armor if the enemy spams an element loads. Other then that she is a solo tank to anything that doesn't evade physical damage.
