[Best Practice] - Updating HUBs & Blank Pages on Wikis |
|
I've noticed that in the time that I have been following NeoWikis the main HUB design for a Wiki has developed and changed. This being the case, it leaves other Wikis that proceed the update looking a little left behind.
A prime example would be the Castle Crashers Wiki. I know it would be a pain staking task to do, but is it too much to ask to update all the main pages to reflect the most recent front page development? -- EDIT: Never mind the example as I just refurbished it... but my point still stands that there are other neglected Wikis out there. Not only that ... but it appears some Wikis, like the Castle Crashers one has fallen under the whole pretence people have of just creating a page for the sake of it and not filling it with content - just for the points allocated for creating a new page. This is not on. A page must contain content of sorts if it's being established. I am disgusted when I see a Wiki that preaches over 200 pages and that all they are is just that, a blank page. I am going to work on this Wiki and try and get it up to speed - but is there a way that the Administrators can penalize people for just making blank pages? It isn't a good look for the Wiki itself, nor for Neoseeker. If people see that, they'll not bookmark the page hoping that one day the content will be filled in - they'll look elsewhere for a Wiki that contains the information they are after and then thus subsequently keep using that Wiki. So, in effect - we are losing business by having incomplete pages... This message was edited by Matt Addison on May 30 2009. -------------------

I believe we were actually planning on porting Castle Crashers to a WikiGuide.

The real issue is, if someone creates a page with improper spelling or capitalization. The page will be missed, and will just take up space.

quote overKillFor that, you can always look at a list of Short Pages or Orphaned Pages and you could see them there and flag for Administration attention. And yeah, I think Castle Crashers would be better as a WikiGuide too. There isn't enough about the game for it to merit it's own Wiki. -------------------

quote NagareYeah, I kind of figured. XD There are a few Wikis around that are similar - in that they don't require a full Wiki. -------------------
