Games' pages should follow the exact same format as their official title that is referenced on Neoseeker (Including colons, dashes, and apostrophes). For example Guitar Hero 3's page is titled Guitar Hero III: Legend of Rock, which leads me to my next point- proper numbering.

Titles of games, specifically sequels, often contain a numeric character or two to indicate the sequence of the series.
In most cases, these characters should be represented in Roman Numeral fashion.
(If you are unfamiliar with the roman numeral number scheme please read through this.)

With that in mind- all other methods of naming that particular title should be created with a Redirect. So in regards to the above example- Guitar Hero 3 would redirect to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

For issues with game titles' being the same as another related feature of the game (be it a weapon, a character, etc..) please see Duplicate Naming Conventions.

Character pages' names should reflect the general accepted North American name of the character. European naming conventions can be made into redirects. A note should be made somewhere on the character page highlighting the different names for different regions (whether it is in an infobox or a small subsection is up to you at this point.)

Noting what I said above- weapons and armor should use the proper North American standard for naming (which unfortunately means Armor NOT Armour). Again - the other spellings should link back to the main page as redirects

I know what you are thinking; "but Deathsythe, Jersey Devil is the name of the game as well as the main character" (props to you if you've actually played Jersey Devil by the way)

This requires a little bit of thought. The main page, Jersey Devil in this case, would reflect the character page- as it is the most notable and important incarnation of the name. This page would then utilize the Disambiguation template to link to Jersey Devil (Disambiguation) Disambiguation Page- which would then provide links to alternate uses.


Now all of you Final Fantasy Wiki contributors are probably saying "Well that is good and dandy, but what about Cid, Biggs and Wedge, and other reoccurring characters.

This one can be tricky.

In this regard a proper execution of the Disambiguation page is mandated. Cid would direct one to the Cid Character page from Final Fantasy VII, but at the top of that page, a note will be made to inform the searcher that this page refers to Cid from Final Fantasy VII, for other uses see Cid (Disambiguation).

Not to worry, that will all be taken care of with a template I've created, no need to fret.

As for the naming convention for the Cid pages- I would recommend Cid (FFVIII), Cid (FFX), etc... be created, and referenced in the Disambiguation page.

The proper way to create a redirect page is as follows:

And that is it. Simple right?

Probably the corner stone stone in any wiki's arsenal - the Disambiguation page.

What happens when you have a situation like the ones outlined above? There are just too many Cids to fit on one page. Simple- you create Cid (Disambiguation).

A disambiguation page simply provides the user with a list of links as to what Cid could refer to:

The Cid (Disambiguation) page would look like the following:

Note: You will have to manually create the disambiguation page- however I have a template in the works that will allow you to add the subtext and link to it in a very simple fashion. Stay tuned for that.

To Prometheusx303's topic. You could create the primary page with the name Wood Golem and have another pages called Wood Golem (Disgaea 2) which redirects to Wood Golem. You would then add your categories and whatnot to the Wood Golem (Disgaea 2) page (depending on how the categories are organized).

With this method does that address the concern you had with page names?
