Semi-Protected?

What does it mean if a page is semi-protected?

re: Semi-Protected?

I know that on Wikipedia, it requires you to be registered for at least a week. Dunno about Neowiki's system, though.

re: Semi-Protected?

If a page is protected, only wiki staff and higher can edit it. Guests cannot edit any wiki page regardless of its protected status.

I realize that, I am asking what semi-protected means.

re: Semi-Protected?

There's an option to make it so that only members, staff, and admins can edit it. I'm guessing thats it, but I could be wrong. Guests can't edit anything, so there isn't really a point in it.

There is no such thing as semi-protection on NeoWikis.

Then explain this. It says the main page is semi protected, and one of the filters gives you the option to view only semi protected pages.

re: Semi-Protected?

I'm guessing that its what I said earlier, it can't be edited by guests, thats an option. But let me go try something with the Family Guy NeoWiki to confirm it.

    Edit:- Yeah its exactly that.

I thought guests couldn't edit anything anyway.

re: Semi-Protected?

They can't.

I wasn't aware that "semi-protection" even existed.

It's pretty simple, really. Kill as many *bleep*heads as possible. Nothing in this world matters to me, you're all pathetic morons. You all deserve to die.

Someone forgot that guests couldn't edit regardless of a page's settings; that's been fixed.

re: Semi-Protected?

So if it doesn't serve any purpose other than to confuse people, why doesn't that option on the filter drop-down get removed?

re: Semi-Protected?

Because most of the options are part of MediaWiki which is what we're using on the NeoWiki's. Whilst we can add new features and the like to the wiki's, changing something like that is a bit more difficult as it was coded by someone else, and we have to first find the bit of code where it adds it and then make sure that any changes doesn't break any ohter part of the wiki.

Also if it doesn't hurt anyone what's the point of spending hours removing it, when we might as well concentrate on bugs and other features, and remove it when we've finished fixing these bugs and features.

In essence it's not a top priority thing that we need to work on. It may get removed eventually, but not before some other requested features and the likes are done.
