Namco and Bandai taking on blood, guts, and gore? I don't buy it. |
|
These guys don't make games like this - they're unproven, and I doubt they'll be any good at it. This game'll crash and burn.

Haven't played anything by Bottlerocket Entertainment though, so I'm thinking on withholding judgment until I see what happens.

You don't buy it huh? Well my friend you apparently have never had the pleasure of playing the Splatterhouse series when it came out for the Turbo Grafx 16 and the Sega Genesis. Trust me bro, Namco had a heavy hand in bringing violence to the foreground of gaming. Well before Mortal Kombat brought us the age rating system for games, the Splatterhouse series introduced eviserations and gore like no other game before it. I have been a fan of the series for a long time and have been waiting for it to come to the new gen. So you have to understand that I have held Namco under serious scrutiny over how they are handling it. So far I am not disappointed with what they are doing but time will tell. The only thing that I am worried about though is that since the game is supposed to be a remake of the old games (or revamp), I hope they don't forget to put the old bosses back in reinvented. Anyway, this is my rant. I love Splatterhouse and look forward to it very much this year. Peace.

Played and own the originals as well Let me reitterate that my doubts were because it's Namco, (as in modern day Namco) that was handling the game.
And it'd also seem my doubts weren't unfounded. Namco has since ditched Bottlerocket. When a project is snatched away from a developer in order for another one to come into play, that's never a good sign. Why the game would come so close to completion and then be taken away only from the Dev. points to budget/funding problems. Wasn't liking the way the game was looking though. Looked too much like it was trying to be God of War (if anything, should have been more like Manhunt), with monsters instead of mythical creatures, and didn't have a 'horror' feel to the game at all. If that's why Namco wanted to reassign it, then that could be a good thing. If they took it away so they can save some money at the last minute, then it'll be as forgotten as the new additions to Altered Beast and Golden Axe were. D: ------------------- ![]() | |
