Famitsu's CHENGPU-esque Poll - Page 2

I really like Japan's poll, and Koei's concept drawings are great! I really like Chen Gong, whose on of my favorite characters in 3k, they seem to have come up with a great design for him. Gao Shun being another, Im so glad they stuck with him being a dignified quiet general rather than some lunatic as they're prone to doing..

ANd I agree that Pang De looks much better in this concept than he did in his DW5 form. As a rider he aught to be pretty light, the Xiliang cavalry is more about speed than tanks.

As for Guo Jia, not sure why he topped the charts really. Sure he was brilliant for a little bit, and he finished off the Yuans with a pretty simple plot which Cao pretty much fell in love with him over. Guo Jia died young, but its not as if he had some over the top awesome dramatic tragic hero death (like Pang De, Chen Gong, Gao Shun, who all made the poll). He accomplished what he was going to, was concurrent with and succeeded by greater strategists (Jia Xu, Sima Yi, Xun Yu, Cheng Yu, Man Chong, etc.), his only legend is that the Yuan plot occured after he was dead, and that Cao gave the impression that Chi Bi could have been avoided if Guo Jia was alive, even though absolutely all his living strategists tried to stop it as well.

I'm a lil surprised they chose Xun You over Xun Yu too. To me, Yu stands out way more in every way.

And lol that they put Yan Liang and Wen Chou together If Wen Chou hadn't existed, Yan Liang would have been in LONG ago, and vice versa. Their each their own worst enemy in terms of playability

Naturally, Hua Xiong's non inclusion thus far is one of the series most profound failures. Then against, "Yan Chou" has a few more battle possibilites than Hua Xiong, and Yuan Shao has no exclusive followers.

You're right. He'd be a waste of a spot.

I still think if Wei gets another early strategist it should be Xun Yu (Even though You was the more hands on of the two) rather than Guo Jia.

Yan Liang and Wen Chou are wastes of spots too I'm afraid. Need people who last through a few more battles.

Wen Chou, Yan Liang and Hua Xiong are all similar characters. They are early generals who we think of as very powerful because of one thing: we are told they are very powerful. They have achievements in the short time span they are around, but overall it is mostly talk that buffers their quality, and like BK said, this is done to make Guan Yu seem more powerful in comparison.

I think it'd be cool if they did the Unique NPC thing they do with the SW series for these characters.

I mean they don't neccessarily need to put in more effort in this characters, but kinda do them like they did that one Cao emperor in the Jin storyline.

For some reason. I'm really diggin' Wen Yang. Like.... he just seems really boss to me. Get wrecked Sima Shi.

Those spots would not be wasted by the pure warriors like Hua Xiong, Wen Chou, Yan Liang. In a good dw game, even characters who only last a little while, based on their epicness could become very useful.

Like in DW3, where each "Others" force actually had a good story line. Dong Zhuo, Yellow Turbans, Yuan Shao, Nanman etc., are ALL a waste of space when they each only have 2 or 3 levels, but DW3 made it so that they each had a type of "what if things played out differently" campaign, starting with historical/novel battles and then going into speculation, which worked out great and needs to return.

Strong NPC's is an idea that I've really liked for a while.. it would help not only these 3, but tons of great warriors who will probably never become playable. Having all the generics the same really destroys gameplay.

And ya I actually really like that tag team idea too. Guan Xing/Zhang Bao here we come

It might've been you that made me go read up on those 2, but I would've definately preferred to have either of them in instead of Xiahou Ba, but seeing as they didn't go far enough to document Zhong Hui's rebellion I guess they needed something to add to Shu =(

Really surprising that they are nowhere to be seen on this poll, but then again I didn't know about them either until I was informed. It doesn't seem like the community knows too much about late-era RoTK, but I can't blame them since after 6 installments we're just now moving past Wu Zhang Plains.

Looking back at it, if they had just added Guan Xing in DW5 instead of Guan Ping(I feel the excuse for Guan Suo is that he brings in a female companion, and Koei loves bringing in the female companions so it was unavoidable)
