Ranking System

I'm not sure if it was Smackdown! or Smackdown! 2 but one of them had a ranking system for the title's which I used to think was quite cool.

I'm not sure how they woudl use it but could it be included in 09?

re: Ranking System

They both had it, just different styles. Smackdown 1 had it where each superstar would gain or lose status(up to 100, down to 0) depending on whether they won or lost a match. Smackdown 2 had the top five contenders for each title, I believe. Either way, I would love for both of these editions to be added to the game, especially the first one simply for exhibition.

re: Ranking System

Back then, that system(2nd ranking system) was put up so there would truly be a no.1 contender and such, because unless I'm deeply mistaken, in the Attitude era, I think the "no.1 contender" title was more valued.

These days, you're just called the number one contender as soon as you get a title shot. But back then, for example if the champion lost the belt, he's automatically the number one contender and someone else had to beat him to get that spot(and so on).

The question is, would gamers in general like to see that return? I would be guessing no because the system has disappeared and people are used to it. People won't be used to always making triple threat matches in exhibition so that their favorite to win the belt will get to win it in one move instead of going through the motions.

As for the first ranking system... there would ultimately have to be an outcome or an effect coming out of that, just a bunch of numbers showing for it would get tedious at the end.
