Information Thread
|
I didn't see this thread, so I figured I'd make a basic information thread with everything that has been discovered about the game so far, so this way people who want to know more about the game won't have to look through several different threads to find a certain bit of information.
Guitar Hero: On Tour will be released on June 22nd. The game will cost $50 USD, and will include the game, a pick to strum, and the "Guitar Grip" peripheral. The peripheral will be plugged into the GBA slot of your DS, and it has a strap to go around your hand. The peripheral, however, only has four fret buttons; compared to the normal five on a regular guitar controller. The whammy bar wasn't forgotten in this game either. You will be able to whammy held notes by sliding your stylus across the whammy bar on the touch sreen.

The game will have six playable characters to choose from, and like all Guitar Hero games, it will have secret venues and outfits to unlock. In addition to the career mode that the game will have, you can play with a friend; either co-op, or competitive play. Besides strumming on the touch screen, the game offers new features which could only happen on the DS. In competitive play, players will get power-ups that will have players blowing into the DS mic to blow out a fire. Or you may have to sign autographs on the touch screen if rushed by a group of fans. You will also be able to yell into te DS mic to activate star power, which should prove to be a useful feature.
As stated in Nintendo Power magazine, Guitar Hero: On Tour will have 25 songs. 20 of those songs will be exclusive to the game, and the other 5 of those songs will be taken from Guitar Hero 3. Some songs have been announced, here are those songs:
Venue: Subway "Do What You Want" - OK Go "All The Small Things" - Blink 182 "Spiderwebs" - No Doubt "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" - Jet "Were Not Gonna Take It" - Twisted Sister
Venue: Rooftop "All Star" - Smash Mouth "Breed" - Nirvana "Jessie's Girl" - Rick Springfield "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" - Pat Bentar "This Love" - Maroon 5
Venue: Parade "Black Magic Woman" - Santana "Jet Airliner" - Steve Miller Band "La Grange" - ZZ Top "Stray Cat Strut" - Stray Cats "Youth Gone Wild" - Skid Row
Venue: Greek Arena "Heaven" - Los Lonely Boys "Helicopter" - Bloc Party "China Grove" - The Doobie Brothers "Rock And Roll All Nite" - KISS "What I Want" - Daughtry (Ft. Slash)
Venue: Battleship "I Don't Wanna Stop" - Ozzy Osbourne "Anna Molly" - Incubus "Pride And Joy" - Stevie Ray Vaughan "Knock Me Over" - Red Hot Chilli Peppers "I Know A Little" - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Bonus Song: "Rock The Night" - Europe
Whereas Guitar Hero: On Tour only has twenty five songs, and since the DS will not be getting Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, an add-on pack will be released for On Tour later this year. No release date has been set, or even an estimated release date. All we know is that the add-on pack will be coming out sometime this year.
Guitar Hero: On Tour and Nintendo have worked on a bundle, which will include the Guitar Hero: On Tour game and a brand new, silver and black DS Lite, with the Guitar Hero: On Tour logo on it. The retail price for this bundle is $179.99 - which is a good deal, saving you about $10. A DS Lite by itself is $129.99, and the Guitar Hero: On Tour game is $49.99.

Toys 'R Us are promoting this game on June 14th, 2008. Anybody who goes to Toys 'R Us on this date will be able to play the game, and they will also get a free temporary tattoo, a Guitar Hero sticker, and a special dog tag.

quoteEssentially, an add-on pack of new tracks will be released for Guitar Hero DS this very year -- portable fans are not being getting the new Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, but between those two DS games, there should be plenty of music to keep the party going. ( source) Basically, they're planning on releasing a seperate game at some point with different tracks on. (:

Yeah, I just heard about that in the DS forum. Thanks for the source, I'll add that to the post. To be honest, it kind of sucks that we have to buy a new game for more songs, but at least the DS version is getting more songs; and at least it'll be out this year.

Would it still be able to be plugged in? Because she bought one game that had to be plugged into both slots and it didn't fit into hers. (it had like that spike on the side) I would think it would but just wondering, even though no one probably knows cuz its not out yet. This message was edited by Gray Shadow on Jun 14 2008.

Sorry, bit I noticed a little error:
quoteWhereas Guitar Hero: On Tour only has four songs Also, It'd probably be a good idea to add something about the bundle.
Now, in terms of the add-on pack; by now we're fairly sure that that's a reference to GHIV, which will definitely be released on the DS, correct?

Thanks, I've fixed that error and added more information. I'll add the bit of the add-on pack when I get home, I don't have too much time... I've gotta get ready for work in a few minutes.
