I just got my new Nintendo Power in the mail, and it has an article on GH: On Tour. It doesn't list any of the songs, at least I don't think - I haven't read through it yet. But one interesting thing caught my eye. To use star power in this game, you can yell or blow into the microphone, or, press a button on the D-pad.

I think that's an awesome feature, to be honest. I don't think you can whammy in this game, though... it doesn't say anything about it.

I heard about this somewhere, though I don't recall reading it in NP. What issue was it?

Anyway, I like the feature; it's a good way to incorporate the "hands-free" star power usage since the DS doesn't have a motion sensor.

Also, it said in the May issue of NP:

Ah, sorry... didn't see that bit on the whammy bar. But yeah, my June issue of NP just came yesterday. It has an 11-page article on Guitar Hero: On Tour, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Wii Rock Band, and Samba De Amigo or whatever it's called.

Btw, the drums for Wii Rock Band look sweet... they're white. Wireless guitar too, don't have to put the Wii remote into it which is a sweet added bonus. But, I won't be getting it since I already have it for the Xbox. Plus I think it said that Wii Rock Band gets 5 exclusive tracks.

For the star power, it says on it's website you yell 'Rock Out!' into the microphone to activate star power. (Man, I can't wait for this game..)

Voice recognition? Awh man that sucks, I'd much prefer it was left out altogether rather than to have to yell into the microphone. D:

Have to, or just an option? It'd be cool as just an option. I know that when I played Phoenix Wright alone, I enjoyed yelling "Objection!" into the microphone. This could be equally as cool, but I wouldn't want to make an ass out of myself in front of other people.

I recall it saying in NP that you have a couple options for activating star power. Making any noise into the microphone- this includes blowing or yelling "Rock On!"- activates it, but you also have the option of pressing any of the face buttons.

I wonder if you'll be able to yell anything into the mic to activate star power. Like for singing in Rock Band, when the little yellow stuff comes up on the screen to activate overdrive, you can say anything or even blow into the mic to activate it. I'll probably be using one of the face buttons though to activate it though.

The problem with the face buttons is that you need to take your hand away from strumming to do it, whereas the mic is hands-free. And yes, I'm fairly sure you can say anything into the mic, but that means background noise is going to be an issue. If you're playing in a noisy place, it may activate when you don't want it to.

Or you can touch the bar of star power on the touch screen while playing to activate it.

You can do pretty much anything to activate Star Power - Blow into the mic, press a button, yell something...with the exception of the L and R buttons, I believe. I've found it the best way to activate it is to just blow onto your DS while playing. You don't have to take your fingers off the DS and your eyes will stay focused on the screen.

Why makes more than one way to activate Star Power? Kind of a waste, really.

I guess because they wanted a use for the microphone, and if you're like in public and don't want to yell into it, then you could do the other options.

Yeah, that is pretty freakin' sweet. You see, if you are by yourself, then you can yell into it. If you aren't, then you can blow into. If it is voice recognition tho, then there could be a problem for people who have an accent. I mean hicks would sit there screaming," Rack Aout!! Rack Aout!!" Also, if it isn't voice recognition, and it is just any noise, then those same hicks would have a problem with the banjo music in the background. I wonder if there is a way to turn that off, so that you just blow into the mic.
