If you're using DS, save your money up and buy Genprey Fangs and Trap Tools, then use the Shock Traps to trap the Tigrex then Demon Dance spam his rear section to slice his tail right off. Simple.

Sorry gn_xoo, what I meant was, you can't possibly keep dodging while the monster is charging through you, ex: los which shoots fire ball (triple circle, evade, tripe circle, evade, triple circle ...) Until it charge through you then guard if necessary, after it charge, sheath and find opportunity, (unsheath circle circle, and repeat from first)

And technically, no one is stupid enough to use a charge attack head-on to a monster. There are much easier ways to get a solid charge at an enemy without being suicidal. Not to mention the upstab is just as powerful as the unsheathe attack, so it is essentially useless to use the unsheathe attack primarily in the first place except for initiating, or if you are not mobile enough against a certain monster to keep your lance out.

The lancer's most powerful position in a fight is in the very middle of the arena, as most monsters utilize some sort of charging moveset, any charge that passes you instantly leaves you ready to charge at their flank as soon as they have passed you. Works like magic, lance magic.

A Rathalos' fireball is my favorite time to charge, I only have to hop to the side once and initiate and I get a good 4-6 charging hits on him during his lengthy animation.

By the stats linked by you from the FAQ, turtling is the weakest moveset (and charging is not due to the fact it hits in rapid succession). Ergo, it would be a useless "special" for a very useful weapon.

Funny.
The monster attacks the hunter, so it is normally always near the hunter anyway or within proper charging distance. The middle of the area normally accommodates the most space for combat. Utilizing a charge requires space to take full advantage of the lance's offensive abilities.
