A success story was with my psp. Before MH, I didn't see a lot of games I liked for the system. After MH though (and its replicas Gods Eater Burst and Lord of Arcana), I became interested in JRPGs. With more than 4 years passed from the original psp launch, I had a treasure chest of JRPGs to go through. I still do, and hopefully I can finish them before March 2013. Waiting sure as hell paid off.

I'm greatly interested in your wealth of knowledge on PSP JRPGs, while I don't need any more, I'd like to know which ones you thought were really good, as I could probably use some new ones to play. :\

I have Ys: Origin and Ys: Oath of Felghana on Steam already, and I love them to death.

I'll look into the rest of those.... aside from the Final Fantasy ones, if there was one series I couldn't play through, it was FF.

I have NO console loyalty. I just absolutely hate the controls and game selection of the Wii, nor am I interested in anything on the DS. Buying a PSP was hard enough when all I wanted it for was MHFU. I'm kind of tired of buying a game system just to keep playing a series I like. I liked that Xbox kept Halo the entire time. -.- I would've been pissed if I had to go buy a PS3 for Halo 3 or something asinine like that. What makes a series feel like a series, is me not having to deviate from my normal console-curve (Example: Buying a Playstation 1, then a PS2, then a PS3...) to play a series I love. What the hell kind of curve involves Monster Hunter generally being only on the Playstation 2 and the PSP, then shooting over to Nintendo systems. That's not a curve. That's a U-turn.

I don't even like playing on consoles. I'm a PC gamer generally. I tend to never play on consoles as long as I can help it. But in the case of Disgaea and Monster Hunter, I had to give in a little. -_- I don't think I will ever buy a Nintendo console. New Monster Hunter title or not. I loved their older systems, they were my favorite systems ever. But I have completely loathed the Wii ever since its release.

Wouldn't it be a U-turn if they suddenly made a PS1 monster hunter? I would say this is a curve, Halo stayed on Xbox because Microsoft owns it, Sony has little say in what Capcom does with Monster Hunter plus Capcom's a pretty opportunistic beast when it comes to their decision of consoles. As the system owner they can do a few things, turn down the game for their system(hahaha, not happening in japan) offer money and support, or do nothing. They fairly consistently chose option three and in the case of P3rdHD for western localization indirectly chose one. Bet Capcom's really feeling the love from Sony, especially since( and this is mostly if not entirely in japan which is honestly the only place psp really makes an impact in the market) they made the PSP what it is in japan and certainly gave it a cult following in the west.

I mean, in the place of capcom, who would you pick, the company that kinda gave up trying to protect your portable entries from rampant piracy in the west, or the company offering you to pay off all of your advertising as well as a chunk of your localization? Let's also put this in the context of the first company being the proud owners of a system considered dead on arrival at the time with what was considered the most complicated developer's kit versus the highest/fastest selling console of all time with a build you're fairly familiar with that's strong enough to still make enough changes to revamp your product. That was their options going into Tri, without getting into when they had the opportunity of a PS3 game in NA and Europe Sony decided not to upgrade ad-hoc to accommodate it, killing the localization before it even took off.

As an owner of Tri G I gotta say it's easily the best, most complete MH title to date and you're intention is to not get it with added full online at that because of bias against the system it's on still sounds silly to me. The money issue makes sense though. And admit my own bias on the matter because of one big reason, 3Ultimate is incredibly appealing to me because I actually intend on getting the 3DS and WiiU versions of 3Ultimate. Because then I have one MH game I can play at home on the couch with the tv and it be the same one, with the same hunter, on the go with a portable. It's just beautiful.

As for Bayonetta, I wouldn't call one game a "series" and it sounded like SEGA was getting ready to pull the plug, they're on the brink of financial ruin and putting everything into PSO2, until Nintendo chose to publish it themselves.

And YS is the shit, get SEVEN. Also look into Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, it's also made by Falcom and is their traditional rpg series.



On another note - Team Ninja apologized for Ninja Gaiden 3 and is saying the WiiU version should be an actual Ninja Gaiden game, giving fans of the series what they want from the series.

Nothing on that yet, just that there's full online. Previous games would suggest that region-specific servers are going to be the case here.

As for the piracy thing, I just feel that PSP is the one system where you can't deny piracy is an issue for it, any other system I think is blown out of proportion but it being so easy to hack and run isos became a huge selling point for a lot of people. I'm not talking about using that method to import for free either.

I get that choosing a system is hugely based on preferences and available funds, and I already have a 3DS(both US and Japan since I was losing hope on english versions of 3G and 4 which I will be getting this december) WiiU seems reasonably priced at $300 at launch and within four months of release should have four games I'd really really like.
