Maybe they changed it because flashspamming rathalos/rathian in MHFU was just too easy and made them much to vulnerable and open to attacks (which was a mechanic that could be abused by bringing 15 flashbombs).

My answer about MH3 was in response to Ceadeus his remarks.

There is an add-on that can be downloaded for the extra granny shop items. I did this back in MHF2 and I thought they implemented it in MHFU, because iirc I didn't need to redownload it when switching from MHF2 to MHFU, but apparently they didn't, so you have to DL it. You can just do this with Wifi.

It doesn't really change the items on sale, it adds a couple like flashbugs and raw meat.

And I completely disagree with you about the remark that earplugs would be the same as flash spamming.

man I could do with raw meat. I hate doing steak farming runs! I have no idea which update to get for that. I guess i'm playing it the way it was first made

If flash usage was wrong then they (the game designers) would limit it further. There are so many items that are clearly deliberately limited as well as the mats for them. at some point the designers who made this awesome game decided that in the balance of difficulty, 5 flash bombs and the potential to make a further 10 per fight was the right amount.

Lets face it this game is hard enough as it is. People say its for noobs but it depends on your perspective. I've heard an expert player once say if you can't use every weapon for every monster then you're a noob. Another guy says people who don't use heroics or who rely on armour are noobs...

Its all about perspective. flash usage is imo as legit a tactic as using HGE or exploiting an elemental weakness or using tranqs on a yama. this is because you make a decision to use a particular piece of equipment you know the target is susceptible to in order to be more efficient at killing it/capturing it.

The game is awesome, no argument there, but that doesn't mean that the game developers made a perfect game. For many online games, on which game developers have been working on maybe harder or longer than those of MH, there are a lot of patches that rectify skills and balance the game out more.

Having the possibility to bring 15 flashes isn't balanced AT ALL. Even at Grank you can kill many monsters by only attacking them when they're flashed.

Flashes give you a 15 secs window of mindless, almost carefree monster smashing where as HGE only gives you an opening for how long? Maybe 2 secs on the roars of most monster and maybe 3 secs on the roar of a Diablos or Gravios.

Second reason why HGE is nothing like flashspamming is because of the fact that most monsters (except for Diablos) don't scream all that often, only when they rage. Making HGE a situational advantage at best and flashbombs (against a monster that can be flashed) will always give you an unfair advantage.

Third reason is that having a skill like HGE limits the possibility of having another skill whereas you can (if the monster is flashable) always flashspam a monster. With armor skills there is always a trade off and you need to find a proper balance that's suited for each monster. It's not like the flashspammers don't have armor skills either, they have the armor skill AND the flashspams.

The game isn't easy, but why should it? Flashspamming makes the game a LOT less challenging than it can be. A lot of games these days are aimed at pleasing a wide range of people and don't really offer that much of a challenge anymore.

I honestly don't care if ppl decide to use flashspam tactics for their own, but going around telling that flashspammers are just as good as other hunters that don't need to rely on items is pure nonsense imo.

I know I might be getting to invested in this argument but seriously... players that use all things given are the true monster hunters. Give me a break.

The ppl that don't agree with flashspamming know how to use them, but refuse to because it's lame as hell and makes the fight too easy. I have much more respect for a guy that can kill a monster with the bear essentials and a minimum of added on gear than someone that's been completely pimped out and has tons of stuff on him that will do the hard work for him basically.

The point is that the first guy will be able to kill any monster under any condition (items or not) , whereas the second bloke might succeed in killin him without items but it takes him a shitload longer.

So far I haven't seen any of the speed runs/ tutorials made by incredibly skilled hunters (like maze) where they're flashspamming monster in order to kill it. These guys are the true hunters and they bring the essential items needed for the fight, not all the useless crap that just takes up baggage space and would just complicate things.

(this is reallife here) It's like now you have scopes that can exactly tell you where to aim in order to hit your animal from far away, it makes it all the easier since you don't need to aim for yourself or make wind corrections anymore or anything. This is imo bullshit because getting a kill the old fashioned way would be much more rewarding seeing as you did something on your own, with your own skills and didn't need anything for it.
