Last time I checked, flash bombs by themselves do 0 damage and do not hurt a monster directly, just like HGE doesn't damage a monster on its own. By that logic, using HGE on Diablos is unfair because it gives you free time to launch a charge attack, demon dance or triple pound. In fact, the whole game is about capitalising on the time windows to attack a monster. If flash bombs give you time, why not use them? I guess I shouldn't be using HGE on Diablos anymore because it gives me a chance to hit him and he can't do anything about it, that would be "unfair" and "not proper". I know the next argument is probably going to be: HGE isn't as game-breaking flash bombs. They have similar effects but are used in different ways. A flash bomb shouldn't be looked down upon because it gives you an opening to defeat a monster and survive, because that is what the whole game is about. That's my point right there, flash bombs can put you at a disadvantage just like heroics, adrenaline, and armor with godly skills but an ungemmable demonic protection (-15 from a certain fatty set, I forget which one) can. HGE may be a short opening, but it's a clear one and incredily easy to exploit. 	Isn't fair for me either when a Gravios high roars and then uses his beam. I just do what I can because a monster does the same thing without caring how "fair" or "proper" it is.

You will only have the time to do a triple pound or a demon dance if you allready have your weapon out and are standing right next to him. If you're standing a bit away you'll get there and the roar is over. If you don't have your demon mode activated, by the time you start the dance it'll be too late. The game is about identifying time windows in which the monster has an opening that leaves him vulnerable to an attack. Flash bombs don't help you identify that time window, it creates a very large time window which is an entirely different thing. If you're standing next to a Diablos and you block it with your GS for example you also have time to do an attack (maybe even squeeze in a charge). HGE is designed for weapons that can't block because even with doing a "superman jump dive" you still get stunned by the roar so that would mean that you could only really use weapons that can block on Diablos, because otherwise you're at a clear disadvantage, which wasn't the goal of Capcom. If you're using a weapon that can block I see no point in using HGE tbh... When flashed Gravios more often than not will roar anyways and the amount of time that gravios is flashed is pretty small so there really is no point in flashing Gravios imo. And this is an example where skills like evade +1 or evade +2 come in handy.

	I'm not mentioning Gravios when flashed, Gravios in general just roars then beams whenever the hell he wants. I'm not saying flash bombs should be used ALL THE TIME on every monster. You mentioned it's almost pointless to flash Grav, as is the same with monsters like Narga, Shogun etc. There is a time to use it, just like there is a time to use HGE when using LS or DS. A lot of my points are getting skirted around or missed altogether, generally reverting to "I'm pro, I say flash bombs suck because they give you a big advantage." Saying Capcom didn't mean for you to be at a huge disadvantage to Grav/Blos roars or monsters being at a disadvantage to flash bombs is completely bogus, because in the end Capcom developed the game like this. They gave monsters difficult-to-block roars and hunters easily made flash bombs. Capcom intended what they intended to do because they made the game. I guess they must be really shitty developers to make such a "broken" item that gives the player an advantage, or create a roar mechanic that almost forces weapon types to use HGE. You aren't anyone to say I should never use flash bombs no matter how experienced and elite you are, just like I'm not saying you should bring 15 bombs every quest and use flash bombs on every monster in the game. Using a flash bomb doesn't, and will never make you a bad player.

Where did you in any of my posts read "I'm pro I say flash bombs suck because they give you a big advantage"? In pretty much everything I made a counterargument as to why I think you're wrong and not saying stuff like "I rock, you suck". I think I adressed most of your arguments and offered a reply. Flash bombs can be usefull to create a window of opportunity to heal and sharpen, but to use it in order to attack a monster is in my opinion weak, just like it's your opinion that it isn't. Very few games are perfect and you can always find stuff that's overpowered to use and just makes the game a walk in the park. And it's my opinion that in this game that's the case for flash spams. They also don't force you to use HGE per se, it's just a way of balancing the fight. When I gun Diablos or Gravios for example I never use HGE but skills like evade +1 or something similar. When using HBG for example I also never use the shield to block roars. For starting players however that aren't that familiar with the fight yet it can be a helping hand. I'm not saying you shouldn't ever use flashbombs, I'm saying that bringing 15 flashes and using them solely to beat the monster into a pulp is a weak move and by doing so you don't learn how to effectively fight every monster and makes you a less capable hunter because you're less adapt to handle every situation.

Convert gogengantes into a flash lover? I don't get it, you say flash spamming is not cheating, ok full stop. Others don't what are you gonna do? Change 'em? 	I use Flashes and Traps for easy farming, or if I get pissed off with a hard monster. With flashes I can farm 2 or 3 Rathalos in the time itd take me to farm 1 without flashes and traps (The motherbleeper does like to fly doesnt he.), so if someone calls me a noob because im trying to efficiantly farm for armor/weapons thats their problem. ------------------- #4564524243

	I've heard the concept that flash spamming is akin to cheating and/or noob tactics. I think its the dumbest thing I ever heard. Every item in the game is finely balanced against use and abuse. There is a reason why you can only take 3 traps similarly you can only take a limited amount of flash and mats. 15 I think which is fair enough if you can be bothered to farm bugs. If you think that being able to take 15 flash into a fight is too much then thats your opinion. If some so called "expert" takes 20 minutes to kill a diablonargafattyrexioth and i do it in 20 with my traps and flash. he'll call me a noob while patting himself on the back for slaying the naughty beast all on his own while i'll be busy wasting my valuable time farming more goddam flash bugs. Flash bugs are a legitimate tactic that has a cost to use and that is TIME! It takes a lot more time to farm for 10 flash bugs than you save by using 10 flash bombs. I used to be a flash spammer until I ran out of bugs then I became much more aware of how I used them. And that imho is one major aspect of expert hunters. The way they manage their resources of which time is one.

You can just buy them from the old lady . There are always mechanics in a game that can be abused. There are almost no games where there isn't something you can abuse to make your experience easier. I wish more people from back in the day were here like maze, firestorm and Terry... I'm never going to through to you guys who think that flash spamming is such a legit manner and you'll never win over an "expert player" as you stated tbh so all in all this discussion is pretty pointless. Allthough I must say that for a bunch of people who take so much offense in being looked down upon by the "experts", you act pretty condescending towards people who advice against the use of flashbombs yourself. I'm also certain that people who learn to fight monsters without flashes have a much easier time clearing the training missions. I'm not saying ppl that flash spam won't be able to (would be sad if they couldn't) but others that don't rely on flashes won't have as much difficulties clearing it. If it was such a "normal part of the game" tactic, experts wouldn't have that much problems doing it either, but none of them do. Kind of makes the entire point. 	Diablos and Gravios have a roar that can only be negated by the HGE(High Grade Earplug)skill Rathy. Now it's called a cheap tactic or noob because you learn nothing by using flash bombs. You reduce the monster into a blind dumbass basically, which I disapprove of personally. I'm the stubborn type so I like to figure out the monster's attack pattern rather than throw a flash and hack away. The game is about skill and flash spamming requires none which is why it's looked down on. Traps though I've never seen reffered to as noob tactics as this is a great way to cut/break parts from monsters. I've always used traps. There is nothing wrong with using these items, because it all boils down to personal preferences, but don't expect others to welcome you into their group(does anyone even play this game online anymore?). ------------------- quote Asyilem What?
