I cant kill rathian and rathalos

No, you don't have to complete the Rathian and Rathalos quest to get to HR3.

If I were you, I'd wait until I get decent equipment by progressing in the Village Chief quests first.

Also, it'd be more helpful if you could tell us what you're having trouble with(The attacks), what your current equipment is and your progress on the Village quests.

What's your weapon preff? If none, flash bombs and hammer will be your friend. Aim for the head and when rathian starts to take a step back, either roll to the side or between her legs. I typically roll between the legs, but that's with a ls. Not sure if that's practical with a hammer.

...does this set even give any skills? You should complete the Blango Set or Kushala Set. They're great sets.

Take time to observe and learn the enemy's movements, you'll know when to strike then. LS is pretty good for Rathian and Rathalos.

Lol, rathian and rathalos are easy man. In my opinion the best way to do it is to first cut their tail off. Then break the horns off of their face. Break both of the wings and then after all that just attack its face for a bit and it should be dead. If you are doing the quest where you have to kill them both at once, and they both fly into one zone, then try to make them hit each other with fireballs and it really damages them alot. I killed the rathalos in like 5 min.

Just keep attacking their tails with either slashing or piercing weapons.

all you have to do is hit him and run the upgrade of ravager blade+ is good I've done the rathalos and rathian together with it and if you dont have that there's always the dragon destroyer or the dragon destructor either is good thy have dragon attribute and good damage
