Change your weapon dude~ longsword is not a good way to approach akamu.

hammer works nicely, as do lance and gunlance. you can lance it without getting touched. literally. hammer is all-up offense, its very very easy to hit his head and KO him. you either wanna go for all-out offense or huge wall of defense. ls is neither, and akamu is so big you can hardly evade and dance around him as LS are intended to do.

flash bomb to stop his charge, if you dont have a blocking weapon and you see him coming towards you that will stop him in his tracks (but not for long)

when he does his roar, if you have a blocking weapon you can block it, and stay under his tummy while the eruptions are going off to get lots of free hits + the eruptions will not hit you under there.

lance and gunlance are seriously the easiest way to do this. with at least guard+1 skill you'll be fine. if you stick to his chest/stomach, it's ridiculously easy. The only attack that can hit you there is his charge, so as long as you don't attack too much and block pre-emptively when he is about to start his new attack, it'll be fine. if he charges, you'll block it, and if not, you can keep stabbing.

Well, if that is the case, use smolder dragonsword or some dragon element weapon. devil slicer will be uuuuuuuseless.

and don't stand in front of his face for too long.

uh, keep to the claws/feet i guess? on his right - so his tail swing won't get you. hit the face but don't let him face you, or hit the face when you trip him over. watch out for step damage (getting trod on when he turns) and don't stand so close that his feet will clip you when he charges. go for the tail when you think its almost dead. tail needs certain damage before it comes off, I can't remember exactly i think he needs to hae 40% hp left.

what skills do you have on that?

Gun chariot + hermitaur armor (or full silver los gemmed for guard +1) = dead akantor

It'll take you about 15 mins this way, and I believe me its so much easier then doing it with a LS.

The thing you do is:

-drink a mega/powerjuice so your stamina doesn't go down to much
-stand at his face and poke at it keep your guard up at all times, most of the times after an attack you can get 2 pokes in I think, untill his two fangs are broken
-when he does his body slam/roar attack (so when he goes up) position yourself just right and start doing wyvern fire attack so that when he comes down it blasts him.
-After you removed his fangs just start poking at his belly so you can break his back spikes
-As for the tail swipe you just need to block it but watch out when he does his double tail whip, if he does after the second time you should be able to get some pokes in on his tail so you can also cut his tail off then.
-don't use the shells to much cause that way you lose your sharpness pretty fast, a good solution for this is full silver sol armor gemmed for guard+1 cause it also gives esp but you'll need a lot of silver los mats then.
-when he buries its a good time to sharpen up and stuff like that just look out that if you see eruptions comming up when he's buried they'll come up in a circle, just make sure you're outside of that circle and then you can sharpen up, drink a cool drink, another mega juice whatever you need at that time.

The long sword tactic is basically stay under where tail meets body and keep hacking away. Roll away towards tail when he roars and if he charges i think u just take the hit. Sorry for double post but i'm doing this from my mobile...
