I appreciate your much more logical response and thought processes Bossman, and your note to me was a much more appropriate way to deal with guests. Regrettably though, Terry's attitude is so disgusting, so repulsive, that I don't feel to refrain from anything to be honest. I mean, this whole little episode of his stems from what he considers trolling and spamming; his recent posts in this thread are much more an example of trolling than any ignorant guest will ever hope to achieve. Every other line is some sly dig here or some self-righteous pretense that he comprehends a matter clearly too difficult for several experienced, respected mods.

It's handled on a case-by-case basis 99% of the time. This kind of trolling is too subjective to apply a banket rule to, which is why responses can seem slow sometimes.

I'm not sure whether this is a good point for me to reply or better let Bossman speak for me since he seems to be the only one (aside from Machi who's staying out atm), who at least tries to see things from my point of view. And there sure are way too many things to reply to, so I'll try to keep it somewhat short.

Aurora, I was under the impression that if you could look into the reported messages of the MHFU board (and maybe even delete / close topics), even though you are not listed as a moderator here, the same thing would apply to other mods, in this case Machi and Xeros in said topic in the MHP3rd forum.
Afterall you were the one who messaged me even though the context of the message was not in a forum that lists you as a mod.
So after all I am confused about whether you mods can close / delete topics in forums that don't list you up as mods. But either way, replying to very obvious spam / trolling isn't what a mod should do imo, regardless whether it is his forum or not. It just encourages the spam discussion which isn't in the interest of the forum. Neither in these boards, nor in any other gaming boards.
As for when the ban occured, I can't state that exactly, since as you said, it's not made public, which is perfectly okay. However, what we saw is that he kept spamming (may it be here or in another monster hunter subforum), so I think my reaction is quite natural.

Bossman. Thank you for actually posting an opinion that is an opinion and not just sypathy towards others. I really do appreciate it. I've had enough of this since that sympathy based acceptance of opinions in the HH debate with Yuki. As for you're question whether you're overlooking something - I'm not sure, just maybe that it's not the first time the mods are taking their time to overlook the situation and detect a spammer before taking action (which is perfectly fine up to that point). In many cases I'm the one reporting said spammers, sometimes with a short remark like 'useless post' (in a revived, 1 year old topic) or 'pls close' in case I find the whole topic pretty useless. Aurora seems to consider that memberating, which caused that whole debate (as I reported a post from Evil Tyrannosaur).

Waka, if you find it childish that I am upset about the forum getting flooded with spam than that is your business. I don't find it childish, hence I won't stop just because you say so. It would be something different if this would be the first time that this happens, but you could say it happens in regular periods.
Also the problem was not in a forum Machi and Xeros weren't responsible for. He spammed here even more than in the P3rd board. I just pointed out the most recent, and probably most idiotic one of his posts.

Now about you bustr. Firstly, where do you see me memberating? I was critizising the mods, from my point of view for a good reason, which I backed up with arguments. If I say

there still is no memberating. If you're not happy with how the responsible people are doing their job, then it has always been the natural reaction to go to a higher instance, which in this case is the admin. You clearly are twisting facts.
Next point about you, someone begins his post with multiple flamings is clearly not in the position to tell others which rules they should follow.

High-horse? - maybe, but only towards people who either are impolite, spamming or clearly not listening to begin with, and aside from that, a person's attitude is something you'll have to get along with. If people politely asked for help here and pointed out there problem in an at least somewhat elaborate way, they always got help from me as far as I could help. And I can help pretty far in terms of MHFU, and I certainly have helped far more people here than you ever have or ever will, so again, you're not exactly in the position to open your mouth here.

Elitist? - certainly not. Elists look down upon people. I simply correct them if they are wrong. There's a huge difference between that.

Self-righteous? - my post was critcism, and this is the moderator's corner, the topic where criticism is supposed to be posted if necessary. Think before you post, smartpants.

bullshit? - you're very welcome to show me where my posts contain actual bullshit and not just what you personally find bullshit for whatever reason. I doubt you'll find much, and if you do, you'll have to dig about 10x as much text that is helpful to others.

The reason they were picked as mods over me was quite obviously that they were here for far, far longer than me and already were mods when I discovered monster hunter for myself. That is the only 'obvious' point, and I doubt either of us can know any other possible reasons for sure.

Those mere 7 lines you've posted here contain more unbased flaming/trolling than you'll find in all of my posts for the duration of the entire time I've been here.
I am not trolling or spamming and if I may be flaming anyone, then I certainly am not the person who began this. All I do is speaking my mind, and if you don't wanna hear it, then i suggest you just leave this topic and let people discuss who actually have the mental capability to do so.
Should be in your own interest since that way you'll win some time to have a look into a mirror.

Also, if you've been here for 5 years + as you stated, how comes you're here as a guest? You sure have (had) an account. Were you banned already for your oh so wonderful attitude, or do you just not have the guts to post your butthurt flame posts from your actual account because you're afraid of getting banned?

As Aurora has pointed out, E.T has been banned.

He has been several times actually but uses workarounds to get back on almost immediately, upon which he gets banned again and its just an annoying cycle that we have to put up with when certain people won't give up. Something that doesn't come up often but there are those dedicated to their misguided causes.

His activity in P3rd is, for all technical consideration, completely unrelated to his activity in Unite. The same goes for if he was trolling in Loungin' but was less disruptive or even helpful here, the same measures would have been taken and considered as separate incidents. It's just a rare instance when the communities of the two forums overlap.

Aurora is the Section Moderator with the entire Monster Hunter Freedom/Portable series under his jurisdiction as a result, myself and Machi on the other hand are forum-dedicated mods and we only have control in this one forum. In P3rd we are no more than regular members.

For posts that revive the much older threads, there has been a new policy made on them that judges them as a post rather than all being treated as spam. It takes into consideration people who might see it there on the front page rather than whether or not its of any use to its original poster.

Bustr, there was no need for such language or outright offensiveness and though I appreciate your intentions it was completely unnecessary.

Having just read this arguement again, it reminds me of the MHF2 wall of text about treatment of other members.
IIRC that text dealt with negative reactions within the forum and encouraged politeness and a friendly forum ethos.

Frankly, if I was a newbie and entered this thread I would expect to find a helpful and friendly community discussing forum improvement.

Not this.

I think alot of the posts here have no purpose other than to escalate the situation, and that's far more damaging than a bit of spam.

It doesn't matter who agrees with you or sympathizes with the current problems in the forum, the point is that this Circus is in itself detrimental to the community.

Essentially naming a group of members who don't like how things are run is akin to undermining the judgement of the guys who help look after the forum. They give up their time for free and deal with our crap every day, they don't deserve to be treated with contempt over something as trivial as trolls and spammers.

As I mentioned earlier the Custom armor set thread should be stickied.feels almost a shame to let it be deleted once it hits 90 days after 30 pages.
It has seriously helped some members/guests that need help with armor.
