ok so, I'm HR6, Level 8 (gathering hall) and I want to give it a shot at the dual Kirin quest. "The fleeting Shadow" or something like that.

However, I just cleared the level 7 Kirin and he was hard. I barely cleared it with a minute and seconds to spare. and I kinda took a beating.

I have obituary S full armor and I used Tigrex Katana. I'm a LS user by the way.

I know that, Kirin's, weakness is fire. but the only fire LS that i have is wyvern maple. and I don't think it's going to be enough.

Any suggestions as to what I should do? Should I try and get another armor or weapon?
or what strategy should i follow since the elder dragon can't be capture, hence, I have no idea of how to set up the LBB+

I fly solo, by the way.

Just to notify:

1. Kirin is not weak to fire, the way people thinks it's his weakness is that fire causes the monster to knock a monster in the floor easier (Hitting Khezu's legs, plesioth's legs, kirin's horn will make them fall faster), even tough he has neutral/little positive defense against fire, it's not wise to use it, instead, aim for some high raw weapon.

2. Get rid of this tigrex katana, upgrade it into the hidden saber, it's 50% affinity beats tigrex -30% (or something like that) easily, it will be also one of the best raw ls in later game.

These are general tips, never tried this quest because I hate kirin, it was a pain to kill the G-Rank one. This is as far as I can go to help you.

Little consolation, because it's a dual quest, each kirin will be slightly weaker than a usual 8* kirin.

if you can get the ammo to spare, use Pellet shots. they work wonders vs kirin

the only problem is that you might run out of ammo, of course


Arutoru's suggestion is good. a high raw weapon focused on kirins head is a good tactic.
if you get the right skills to go with it, you might be able to kill the kirins quickly.

Sleep bombing, make the upgrade of feather knife or high sandman pike.That's how i cleared it.

Or use a hammer.

so, if I sleep bomb Kirin, won't it wake up when I hit it?

I've never used sleep bomb. (I don't even know how to make it, but I can find out). so, I'm only assuming, since whenever a wyvern goes to sleep to his little area and I hit it, it wakes up.

Sleep bombing is a technique
Not an actual item XD

Basically you get you use a SNS or whatever with the sleep attribute
and attack until the monster is sleep and then you plant your LBB's or LBB+'s when detonated they'll cause a tremendous amount of damage

Also, place the small bomb farther away from the large one, so the big one does triple the damage.
