Meh. I like LS Hammer GS and Bow, but i no longer think that Lances and Gunlances are Crap just because i dont use them, i Respect other peoples Opinions, i wont flame them for having another Opinion to others


XtS- Don't encourage it.

Hammers are kind of cheap. But only due to the fact of their questionable build tree.
1000atk at HR9? buh.
In any other way, they are not cheap. Flash bombs + TP is the only way to make them cheap at all. If flashes don't work, then you literally need evade+2 to get through any quest without any damage.


You know what's cheap? Nothing, actually. LS are cheap for the same reason -- because of their broken build tree. Balanced, slightly because the fact that Devil Slicer now needs Kirin Horns.

I use GS, Lances and hammers. I do not understand why anyone wouldn't use GS on monsters with small opening to take advantage of the heavier hits, but oh well.

Hammers make for some fast kills and after training with a monster you don't get hit at all.

Lances are the funnest weapon I've played with. If you can't dodge an attack with the three sidestep hops, well I can't do much for you... Also, lances seem to have some of the worst upgrade lines. 15 rathian scales+ and 3 other materials, really?

Onto longswords, I believe they are the easiest weapon to learn (easy combo+long reach and ease of making in beginning of game), but they do not do the best in fights compared to others. Sure everyone may be able to learn how to do hit and run tactics with a longsword, but some other weapons require close range positioning and dodging skills (lances, hammers) that just happen to get things done faster.

One can achieve a similar effect with Hermituar U, gemmed, of course

Longswords are overpowered?
very true. i will admit that it is my favourite weapon as it is easy to use and allows you lots of manouverability compared to other weapons. also at the beginning of the game if u look at what u need to upgrade them, u will usually find that there easier to upgrade.

Gunlances are unpopular?
also true but there is a reason. at the beginning of the game they are very awkward weapons to get used to as they do require a certain level of skill to wield. knowing when to block, shoot or jab is way more complicated than a longswords swing,swing crap avoid.

Hammers are overpowered?
err yeah they are. but u know they like CANT BLOCK AND ARE SLOW AS HELL.

Speed over power?
have the read the average damage modifiers? the average long sword attack deals around 25% of its overall damage whereas a great sword deals around 55%. also a lvl3 charge deals 110% of the weapons damage and id estimate im gonna cause more damage in one swing than ure gonna cause by swinging ure longsword around.

why longsword rules?
true it is incredibly overpowered, when u reach g rank its damage becomes stupidly high. e.g. ukanlos slicer 1680 power
its range is wide as when u enter spirit mode those swings cover a fair distance.
also unlike sns and ds which sacrifice there power for element the long sword certainly doesnt. e.g. indigo ogre sword 198 power and 520 dragon. knockout dragon sword around 1300 power and 540 dragon.
there clearly not balanced weapons.

whoever said longswords need shields or somekind of blocking apparatus. are u trying to chaet at the game. that makes the hammer hit and run post sound rather easy.

right ive had my rant. but just remeber every weapon in the game is actually rubbish. it only becomes good if u actually know how to use it.
e.g. give a hr9 sns hunter masters blade and watch him reak havoc. give a hr1 Ds hunter akantor broadsword + and watch him flop.
Of course thats just theoretically. lol.

Yup, in Tri they've removed the Bow, Dual swords and Gunlance, partially because the gunlance is unpopular but also because you can easily kill most monsterswith a bow orS. Don't complain to me, it's CAPCOM's issue.

I started on normal MH and i still stick to Sns(it might be a bit cheap). My friend always used hammers and they were real powerful. I didn't understand why katanas werent their own class, but now I realize they would be way too powerful.
