Problem editing some stats on CM4 - need advice?

I have an editor for CM4, and like to boost the reputation, training facilities, attendances etc for a Conference side as I like to start at the bottom and work my way up (with just a little help). The trouble is that once you enhance the clubs standing, you are automatically restricted with the wages you can offer your players during game play - even when I have got promoted after a couple of seasons, I still find that a key player can only be offered £230 per week, and no amount of board requests can improve it.

So, is there a secret to editing a team or player, without jeopardising the game play and bringing about unwanted restrictions.
