	Log in to remove this sponsored message I notice a lot of threads in this forum result in a conversation about the story progression mechanics of the game. I thought I'd make a general thread for this so everybody could discuss it. How it could be improved, what they like and don't like about it and any possible mods you use that adjust this part of the game? I personally really like story progression, though it does frustrate me that other Sims don't progress as well as my own Sims and don't necessarily use things to the best of their ability. As mentioned in other threads, I also stated that I'm not too keen on the lack of homosexual Sims in game, purely because I think that as it's possible for us to do, it should also occur randomly. ------------------- Help revive The Sims 3 forum here!

	They simply must allow NPC Sims to spend their money. There's nothing worse than the inevitable town of mongoloid Alvi offspring brought on by a lack of beds. I think that Iqbal Alvi and his children are the only Sims that I actually dislike.

	I totally agree on Sims being able to spend their own money, but I'm thinking that's a more difficult thing to script than might be possible, since not even Awesomemod makes it possible. In general, I like the idea of story progression, as it's very cool to see the neighborhood change over time, but the way the game handles it by default is pretty awful. Again, Awesomemod is great to have here because it attempts to make the story progression make sense; as in, babies come from 2 Sims actually getting together and thus have genetics of both parents, things like that. I'd really like for EA to step things up in this regard should they ever do a Sims 4, but I don't have high hopes.

	I think a trait might be a good way to do it, as that would provide definition on which Sims would swing that way. However, since technically any Sim can be seduced regardless of gender, it might not be the best way to handle things. In Sims 2, couldn't you just decide the sexual preference of your Sims? I kinda wish they had left that option in.

	justplayingitcool, I guess that could work as there is also a vegetarian trait and that's about having a specific lifestyle. Though Zomgeddon has a point about being about to choose if your Sim is gay or not. I suppose that risks sparking off the whole debate over whether gay people choose to be gay or not. I personally think it's genetic and so having it as a trait makes a lot of sense to me. That might outrage some homophobes though if their Sim babies were randomly born with the homosexual trait. xD As for furniture, I totally agree that they should do something about that. It bugs me when a Sim randomly has offspring (with no father or something of the sort) and they don't even have a cot for it. Perhaps EA should have considered making different houses. When a household got a certain number of Sims, the furniture would automatically switch around to a second house arrangement that they built to fit everybody. Likewise, as money accumulates, cheaper items are replaced with more expensive ones. It would take a lot of work on their part though. ------------------- Help revive The Sims 3 forum here!

	I know what you mean about a sim not having a father/mother. Malcom Landgraab has 2 children but no mother... it seems rather odd. I think the homosexual trait should be seperate from the 5 main traits that are given. I agree that homosexual is genetic, I really doubt people just decide that they are straight/gay. You could blame immaculate conception for the ladies but fathers randomly getting children? Just assume some lady they knocked up one day decided to drop off the baby and disappear forever.
