I'm fairly sure the PC version does have something like these too but I think we have to be connected to the online aspect of the game to get them. I'm not sure about that and I've actually not achieved many of these. xP I think they're called badges and we get them for the most silly things like 'buying a pizza' as seen here.

You could always save up your lifetime points and get that benefit thing that makes skills be learned quicker. Furthermore if your town has a library your Sim could gain the power study moodlet which will increase the time it takes to learn a skill. If you were to by the more advanced skill books and take them to the library to read, this will benefit your Sim. Another idea is to make sure you Sim gets the best bed and best forms of entertainment so his motives may be filled more quickly which shall give him more time to study. You can have a chess board at home to practice on once the skill is at a high level.

jacob0057, agreed. Children are very limited in what they can do because they can't work so career ones are out the window. They also can't woohoo with several women at the same time or go on dates so romantic ones are also thrown out. It is fairly easy to maximise a skill as a child, especially if it is a skill that can raise the fun motive such as creativity or logic.
