How do I earn points?

Okays so in the Sims 3 website they have the sims 3 store which you buy things using points!
How will I earn points to get the totally awesome objects and what not for my sims?

well if you live in America you can use cash cards to get points.

sorry but if they change their minds and let other countries do it. I don't know if cash cards will be available in Canada.

I know right. so how do I get 6,000 sim points I read on a collectors edition that we get 6,000 sim points and I have pre-ordered the sims 3 collectors edition so that means I get 6,000 sim points to spen like YAY

Honestly, if the Sims turns into another "Pay for offline content" POS--I'm giving up. EA is trying to cash in on every little piece of software they possibly can. The game market is not being affected by this US Recession as much as other fields; in fact, they're growing. Companies like EA are freaking out because of the gossip that goes on between other industries--thus, out of proxy, they freak out and start making bad decisions; LIKE THIS ONE.

I see that there is more and more talk of "no 3rd party mods", which adds to this BS. What, if I want to create a new object I've got to go through EA's poorly made integrated system? That's bullshit! EA doesn't know how to texture or shade their own sim skins...I had to mod the hell out of Sims 2 to get my sims looking good; I've played the game for 3 weeks now and every moment I wish I had custom flesh tones...UGH! I sure hope EA is being misunderstood on this one...

Money not earned is not money lost. They'll still make huge profits on the game without selling this extra content. Every game gets pirated...

Gee...could it be that their customer service is shit; their game QA is shit; their customization capabilities/support are shit; need I go on?

So far, EA is holding two years strong with the most pirated software out there. I am planning on purchasing mine within a few days of it releasing so I can uninstall this crappy beta copy and install a DVD copy I can forcefully mod. I honestly would rather continue using the copy I have, but it will expire in 3 days...so...kind of have to.

Don't get me wrong--I love TS3. I just wish I could shove it down EA's throat with a "Stop fraking with my game series, goram it!" message glued to it. I hate them so much ...

We may be able to use debit cards to purchase points too. What I'm going to do to make my 1,000 free points last is only download specific items from a set instead of the whole pack. For example, the Bayside set is pretty cool, but I will only download the plasma TV and possibly the baths and sinks. This way I use around 400(ish) points and still have some spare for other items or clothing. The hairstyles at the moment are pretty shite so I won't be downloading them. I hope that my free points will last me until someone manages to find a free mod site.
