The Sims can break free!

The house is no longer the boundary! We can stroll the actual town as the game is based on the neighbourhood. Anyone like this change or anyone worried about it?

I think it's cool to escape those boring lots without having to call for a stupid taxi and have to wait for a different set of textures to load. I presume the neighbourhood textures still need to load but they will probably use a caching system.

re: The Sims can break free!

I am interested in how this will play out, in theory it should be the same as all the expansions in the past just without the load screens and the need to install many expansions to get there, but what i feel could be a downer is how realistic this could make buying stuff. Will the buy menu still be intact or will we physically have to go shopping to buy our new cooker and refrigerator, i hope not or atleast give us an online shopping option.

So the video in FreeTime is really a peek into the Sims 3! There's a clip there of a woman downtown greeting people. I'm starting to wet myself with all these new infos.

re: The Sims can break free!

I think this is my favourite part of The Sims 3 so far because everybody has been asking for more freedom for our sims and here it is.

On the downside if we do want freedom for our sims then we're all going to have to upgrade our computers and I don't really know if it really is worth the hassle.

re: The Sims can break free!

Chances are you won't have to upgrade a whole lot if at all, The Sims is a casual game. It is not in the leagues of Far Cry or Crysis where you really do need a $3000 system, and even then you can't run it how it was intended, The Sims is always going to be a plug and play game, if you do need an upgrade it won't be much. These days if you need to upgrade more than 3 parts you can buy a mid ranged PC for $400 that will run The Sims 3 perfectly

You probably wont need to upgrade much if you uninstall sims 2 and some useless programs.

Same here. XD

I think that this new feature of being able to leave the house and go to the next without a load screen will do great for The Sims 3. It's one huge step into the next new features that any Sims game offers and it just makes me even more excited for this game's release. I also like the many other features that the game is said to have, such as the many different sizes a sim can be, all the different ways to create a sim, and the many different styled and colored items! =D

re: The Sims can break free!

I am so glad the sims can have freedom it is something better than the sims been stuck in the boring house all day. the other thing I need to know is will we be able to create children and houses like on the sims 2. I hope so. Did you know I think you can create their hair style as well that is another good feature. and I hope some of the old sims are there like the goth falmiy, calienete family, and broke family. hmm they may be there I have no idea. since the goth family were on the sims 1 and 2 I am guessing that they will be on the sims 3 but older. what do you think then.

re: The Sims can break free!

I think anything that brings the sims closer to replicating real life (what our boundaries and possibilities are in life), the better it will be.

i'm all for whatever advances are made in this game.
