Will the Gears Of War film wreck the game series?

Long thread title there .
Its been bubbling on my mind ever since the film was announced, but there's probably a 75 percent chance they could mess it up and it be as admirable as Bloodrayne.
Not that it will be a disaster, i've got big expectations for it and i hope its as big and greatly structured as the LOTR trilogy. But i've never liked the prospect of a film as for me the series is perfect and so will the film wreck the games?

i am far too cynical of game based movies to care about this you can thank doom and BR for that (why the *bleep* did the latter get a sequel anyway)

I like some game movies.....but I've given up on them being completely accurate to the game....just because certain things have to be re-done to make it a movie style, and more interesting to people who don't know/care about the game.


I love the DOOM movie.

I liked the first Resident Evil one. The second one I found funny more than anything.

I love the Hitman movie, it was just crazy cool to me.

I liked both Final Fantasy movies....even though one was an epic failure.

I love Tron if that counts =)

Max Payne...haven't seen, but I heard it didn't do well.

I'll have to wait til' the movie comes out to answer your question though.

I'm still waiting for Megaman, Megaman X, and Metal Gear Solid movies myself.

Gears 2 only wrecked multiplayer, the campaign was fine and continued the story well.

If they can manage to pull off a film as good as Hitman or Punisher: warzone I'll be happy. Those movies did a great job of getting a good story [I loved the story in Warzone] and awesome action sequences mixed together. If they can do something like that, I'll be happy.

Oh yeah, and they had BETTER *bleep*IN' get the right guys to play Marcus, Dom, Baird and Cole. I swear to christ if they put someone like Thomas Jane in for Marcus or Baird, I'll never watch the film.

Hitman wasn't anything like the game though and both of those movies are mediocre at best.

The film could be pretty awesome, as long as they get the casting right.

Do you really think it wrecked it though?
Its still brilliant with just some minor set-backs. For me the only annoyance is the smoke on occassion, the flying Skorge and thats it. The rest is fine for me.

It's obvious you haven't played either Gears title online before.
