I doubt Gears will do a Halo, because Gears 1 was amazing, and still is, and the makers are building off that, so I don't really see how it can get worse than Gears. Also, they're getting rid of some of the bad things about Gears, like the animation invincibility, assassination, and other stuff.

Personally, just looking at the new additions so far has my mouth watering.

I wasn't any interested in Halo 3 until around a month ahead of time, but for Gears 2 I'm stoked as is. Halo 3 wasn't as bad as everyone expected, they honestly couldn't have added much more.

I bought all of the above games and was considerably disappointed with all of them. Especially Creed. I am very much hoping that Gears 2 won't do this. Gears number 1 did not do this because the gameplay was revealed very sparingly prior to the release but considering that GOW 2 isn't due until November, they are releasing the trailers far to early and over-hyping the game. This is what all the games except GTA 4 did though Rockstar talked GTA 4 up to much anyway, with or without trailers. All the above games except Halo had a lot of content to work in which they just didn't and that hampered the game experience hugely, Hopefully Gears 2 will not do this, though it is very much a possibility.

Because it might end up feeling like it - just an expansion pack instead of a whole new game.

Personally, I doubt GoW 2 will fail. I think it will be brilliant.

Honestly, I don't think it will be consider as an extension pack. Gears of War 2 will be more than just an increased on graphics (which are already good). The gameplay is already different just because of the loss of active reloads on snipers and the "stopping power".

Gears 2 looks awesome. Just as long as they add more than two or three new features, I think it will be a huge success.

Wow, I thought Creed and Halo 3 were awesome. But then again I grew up in the age of the Gameboy and NES so I am either easy to impress or gamers these days are spoiled.

When GTA and Halo 3 disappoint then it makes me wonder if anyone can be pleased at all.

Well, we just don't need to expect the game to be dramatically different. It will have improvements and added features, yes. But it is still Gears of War. The things that are going to make it a sequel and not an expansion are going to be the storyline and scenario, as one, and then everything else that has been added as another.

I hope to hell that this game meets the hype. I won't be surprised if it surpasses it.

Yes, that's definitely just you. A majority of the threads on the GTA 4 main forum page are asking which areas of GTA 4 let people down the most.

GTA failed badly. So did assassins creed. It's not even worth capitalising its name.
