What do you hope to see in RODL
|
Well, in my opinion Wo 1 was a great game, but i'm hoping WO 2 will be even better. With that in mind what would you most like to see in Wo2, either new things added or old things taken away. Personally i'd like to see more variety in the stages and more intereaction and cutscenes about the characters.

I agree. There should definelely be more stages from SW2 and DW5, plus some new stages made purposely for this game. More cutscenes should be nice and interaction as well, but what I am really hoping for is some new features, new modes, and more new characters, besides the ones that we know already. Also, for the A.I to much smarter and a bit stronger, and making each stage as long as hell to beat, like DW3.

Yep, i agree with pretty much everything there.
One of my main dislikes with Warriors orochi 1 was in most of the early stages in all 3 stories the stages seemed short and pretty easy to beat, I think stage created just for this game would be great too, kind of to eliminate that feeling, 'well i've played this stage before i might aswell be playing just dynasty warriors' type of thing, something not from previous games ought to be a little more excting.

For me there are a couple of things which I would like implemented !
-More decisive and important mission, during stages. In SW1 I really liked how you had to rush all over the maps, saving allies, pushing back enemy forces and keeping in formation: it made the game more enjoyable.
-Harder enemies, or harder modes in general. I admit on my first story mode, I had trouble with Koshi Castle, but now that I have the access to help from level 99 characters, it just isn't a challenge anymore. I mean... I can take out Orochi in two charges on Chaos, it's too easy. I think what I'm trying to get at is that the weapon attributes are too powerful.
-More enemies, and more variations. I liked how they implemented the base system (attack, defense and supply bases) in DW5, but I also like the constant attack of soldiers. I think the game would be a lot better if there were more soldiers, and the addition of bases. I also think the game could benefit from bigger and more effective bases - instead of just killing a guard captain, and then another, and then the base belongs to you. It is, referring back to my previous points, too easy.
That's my two cents... and although I'm 99% sure that none of these will be implemented, it's still nice to daydream. ...

Again, thats alot of stuff i really agree with.

True, those little things that add a little more stratergy to the mission, which was one of the best things about DW5, the missions werent just a lot of killing, there was a great deal of stratergy involved too, and there didnt seem to be that much of those styles of missions on WO.

It is, referring back to my previous points, too easy. Thats true, bases always seem a little underequipped and easy to take out. Perhaps atleast one enemy general or something like that in each base would make it a little more of a challenge.
Another thing i would have liked to see in the Wo series is the tactics side of thing like in Dw5 Xl. I think implementing fire attacks and ambushes was great and it would be awesome to be able to do similar things in this game.

-Nobunaga/Ginchiyo's aura from the sword staying in the air.
-Some R1s not working at times
-Double musou not working. Looks cool, doesn't work. Enemies disappear.
-More characters involved in the story, in a deeper way. In the first WO, many characters were practically ignored. Also, some characters that were involved, had practically one liners, and didn't contribute much to the story.
Some more stuff to be addressed, but these are the main ones. WO1 was rushed, and you could see that. Hopefully they will take their time with this one, it's the last Koei game on PS2 ffs.

Very true, thats why i hope there'll be more interaction and cutscenes hopefully utilising the characters in a better way, bringing more personality to them.

Special requirements to get the higher level weapons, that's what I love about SW and DW. I have so much fun trying to get them because some of them are a real challenge. What was up with those items in WO anyway?

I wanna see the fact that you could actually roll ~_~ Since the block button hardly helped in Chaos mode....

I never actually tried Chaos mode on this game, I hired it out for a weekend and got most of the stuff. The people were pretty easy to unlock and some of the unique items were too. I think they should replace the items with unique weapons though.

I'd like to see the battle engine tweaked with more of an eye toward balance. It's fine to have powerful characters, but I dislike that so many make top tier for one spammable attack. Battle aptitude should be about skillful use of a move set, not tricking out a weapon and mashing buttons. Some suggestions:
- Make S string attacks do more damage. And for the love of Pete, fix that asinine bug affecting Cao Ren, Taishi Ci, Xing Cai, and Xu Zhu. Their regular attacks don't flinch non-Power type enemies that all other characters can flinch.
- Overhaul the element system. Elemental activation should give characters a variety of useful moves and let them combo charges (whether by themselves or with their team) by tweaking the charge's execution time, area of effect, etc. In my view, it should not turn dashing C1's into magic win buttons and reduce battle aptitude to how quickly a character can get to their one best charge. It should also be distributed more fairly. Why does Guan Ping get four elemental strikes on C4, thereby making him a god tier spammer, while Meng Huo and Zhang Fei only get three elemental charges apiece? Why do some characters get elemental C2's and others don't?
- Tone down the uberness of charges and the really abusable specials, like Yukimura's blender and Mitsunari's energy wave. This would go along with the suggestions listed above. It's good to have more powerful special attacks within the character's move set, but I'd like them to be part of an overall battle strategy rather than the only moves worth using.

Generally similar to what's been said before but anyway:
Make the characters much more equal in terms of fighting ability. Too many people have certain attacks that raise them above everyone else, making it very much a repetitive button mashing combo type game. Basically the elements just need to be sorted out-they make the charge and R1 attacks way too powerful so ability of the character was determined solely by these. The good old S string is barely usable within this game on harder difficulties.
I would also like to see something other than PI's as a reward for the level specific tasks each character has...they didn't seem to do much...a lot of pain for not much gain. 4th weapons would be a better reward but I did like the way they were obtained in WO, allowing weapon fusing to be a more enjoyable process.
More costumes and characters would be nice of course as well as the bugs being fixed
Adding elements of sw1 and dw3 would make the levels longer and more strategical, making musou's last longer and be more difficult. New levels would be a bonus too of course
Finally the level of character interaction with each other should be much higher. Every character should play a large part, not just be present in 1 or 2 levels and barely speak. Since it's a completely fictional game I feel that new relationships between charaters should open up much more frequently, i.e little romances between original couples, certain friendships or enemies forming. More factions would improve this as well but now that people are already in teams that may cause a problem...
That's about all I could think of still, if the game is as good as it's original I will be happy

I will see more costumes, more new levels...acclimatized in other time like the heian period(perhaps new type of soldier and enemies)etc. I would see more complicity between charactersw and more events\cutscenes. I would see the roll from sw2....

I agree with both of u this would give the game a higher score. For instance in SHU 1 and SHU 2 Yue Ying and some other dude is trapped in a cage with their weapons why don't they break out themselves or show an cutscene with Zhao YUn giving Yue Ying her weapon.
