Female or Male main character - Which would you prefer? |
![]() As many Fatal Frame fans would know, the series has always revolved around female main characters. The only male protagonist was Kei (from FFIII) and even he didn't have as large a role as both Rei and Miku did. Now we've seen a new female character in the FFIV screens, so it's pretty likely that she will be the protagonist. But she might not be the only one. Would you like there to be a male protagonist too? Or another female protagonist? Or don't you mind what gender the protagonist is? I personally wouldn't mind seeing another male protagonist in the series. It would be a nice change. Though if Tecmo are going to go down the 'multiple character' route, then they should make them all equally useful (Kei was absolutely useless in FFIII). It would also be interesting having two different gendered characters reacting to their surroundings differently and even controlling differently (which is yet another thing that FFIII lacked). -------------------

I actually really liked playing as a female. When it comes to gaming, it's usually centered around men, so it's a lot of fun to be able to play a game from a female perspective. ------------------- ![]() Yay, I have a banner! Thank you, Sky115!

Kei's scenario was a let down for me, so I'd prefer Female protagonist over Male, spice things a little bit in my opinion. -------------------

I like playing as a girl because it makes it seem more scary. Silent Hill had male protagonists until SH3, and 3 was super scary! (even though Two was the best...and had a female character playable side story) -------------------

I think a female main character just fits in better with this whole series. It's more about spiritual images and scares than the physical violence of something like Resident Evil. Men are generally more physical than women, more action oriented. What good is that going to do someone against ghosts? The girls can handle themselves just fine, with that trusty camera.

I don't mind males but female tend to be the one protray as more helpless then males. Though I hope it not like Kei's adventure since his was more of a Metal Gear thing. *hides in corner hoping ghost don't see him* *Tattoo lady see him* *gameover* ------------------- ![]()

I think that this time, you should have something like a choice. Like, you only have one character at first, but as you do certain things throughout the game, you unlock more clothes and characters. -------------------

Considering how the last 'male' main character turned out, I don't think it will center around...very much. They might add what they did the last time, but I kinda doubt he will have an important role than being a side character. It would be interesting to see if Techmo will have a central main male character, but chances are that its female. I kinda think that most of the horror games are being dominanted by male characters, but if you see the trend in the new horror games, females are becoming the top popular. I think that having a female character being defenseless with nothing more than a camera is what draws the curious eye to the game. Not trying to be a machoist, but I think that's the case for the long line of female characters in this series, whereas opposed to a male who has a wide range of guns, knifes, and so forth. I really don't care the gender for the main character(s), but it would be nice to have a change of pace.
