re: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO SERIES ...

Ah damnit, I don't like being scared so much haha. Like I was playing RE4 with my mate the other day (not that RE4 scares me, god no ) and when it was his turn I seemed to be constantly screaming at him to hurry up and stop playing so casual without realising it. He then told me that I played my games far too much off of fear rather than just rational thinking, which I've realized is true. I always play my game rushing to survive, doing things as quickly as I can, being hasty to fire etc. I also noticed though, that he died a lot more than I did though I lost a lot more ammo than he did. I thought it was quite strange I played like that ^^. So anyway, I'm guessing I'll be running half a mile on the first one, eh? Haha.

And yeah man, Amazon seems to be spot on buying them. One of 'em being £5, the others being £10, pretty good. I really wished companies reproduced some older titles though man, like £60 for Shadow Hearts makes me want to stab myself xD

re: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO SERIES ...

Well, with Fatal Frame you won't be able to fire all over the place and hope for the best.
You have a limited amount of film for the camera, and once you run out you're screwed, until you find some more.
Some of the ghost only take damage when they get right in front of the camera.
If you time each shot right, you can do loads of damage.
£60 for shadow Hearts? Wow..you should shop around.

Ah, that would annoy me a little bit; restrictions. It was like RE, one thing I hated about the series was the Ink Ribbons..I mean by God, I only wanna save XD.

And meh, I didn't pay £60 for Shadow Hearts, I bought it at release. But I need to re-buy it and well...options ain't so wide, heh.

Yeah,I hated the damn Ribbons in Resident Evil.
They were also placed in random places.
Fatal Frame has lanterns that you save at; you don't need any special items to save either.
Heh,I wasn't a huge fan of Shadow Hearts to be honest,I still have a copy; it gathers dust along with Ico and Clock Tower 3.

re: If you are not familiar with the Fatal Frame series ...

I wouldn't worry about running out of camera film too much. It's not wise to randomly fire all over the place, because that won't do much damage to the enemies (I found that out the hard way >_>).
It's all about timing your shots. The longer you hold the camera on an enemy, the more damage you will cause them.
One perfectly-timed shot > Ten fast shots.

As for the scares ... I wouldn't say the games completely rely on "jump" scares. They heavily revolve around a creepy atmosphere and mood (similar to the Silent Hill games), as well as some pretty disturbing situations the charater's tend to get themselves into.
The sense of being helpless is also played on - The characters are weaker than these ghosts, and they only have a camera to protect themselves with - That definitely adds to the suspense and feeling of dread whenever a ghost pops up.
There's my analysis for the day.

Oops. I probably should have put that in the title. XD

re: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO SERIES ...

Sounds very good! I will try and look into getting the previous titles, just not right now. My phone bill came today and was £140, which iirc is about $600 in Australia? My parents will be a little raged and I don't think I'll be spending for a little while haha.

Does the game not get a tad bit repetitive if you're only limited to one weapon (and a queer one at that)?

Ah man, I'd beg to buy that off ya if I wasn't in such an awkward money position

Nah, not really.
Since there are many different types of ghosts you always need a different strategy for beating each one.
The additional camera upgrades also ensures that you'll have different methods for defeating the ghosts. So I never found the actual battle style epetitive.

The most repetitive parts of the games are when you start getting chased by the same ghosts over and over. There are a fair few times you'll be banging your head in frustration because you've just "killed" a ghost, only to have it pop up again ten minutes later. Those moments are also pretty bad because they force you to waste the camera's film on unimportant ghosts.

There's also a bit of backtracking in the FF games ... But it's certainly not as bad as the Resident Evil or Silent Hill series, so the games aren't too monotonous in that respect. Though if you don't know where to go, or get lost, you might find yourself retracing your footsteps to find some clues to figure out where you're meant to go next. I often found myself doing that whenever I forgot to pick up an important item.

They're the most repetitive parts, imo. Though other people might have different ideas on what's repetitive and what's not.

Free movement?
It's just like any other horror survivor, but with a camera.

I don't know where to ask this question so I thought I ask it here.

Does anyone know how well the Fatal Frame games sold in the past?
