Steam, Scuttlers, and Cohen - WTF???

Anyone know how to keep Cohen alive on this level? It's the place where you have to check out the shack after blowing up the planes. I've kept him at full health and it never fails - he turns into a thing. I've even had him wait for me at the top and I've been repeating this level over and over and over. I can't seem to get down with all the steam and scuttlers. I am trying to be stingy with my health because I don't know where the next save is or the next health pack. Any help, can I use a few health packs here and be okay - I have six. I like to be full, though, in case something crappy comes along. Where is the next save spot? Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, well, I was going to erase this post, because I already made it. The way you pass it is to keep Cohen close behind you and in between the steams, and not too close to the corpses. Otherwise he'll turn, but it you keep him right at the turn, he'll fire away and help you out, then once the corpses have spewed their last scuttler, bring him along - except the last three corpses, which spew endless amounts of scuttlers, you have to just run on through. Then you have to keep Cohen outside the door and shoot out the attack guns - there is a save point there.

I don't use walkthroughs - so I was asking for a little help, but Neo shut down yesterday, or I couldn't get it to load, so I did it on my own. I had been stuck there for a few days.

the game has 2 stop points to activate the next level,the medic cant follow you into those levels.first one even if you get him into the last door down the ramps,theres then the auto guns above the door,thru this are more auto guns,then into the next room auto guns,once you reach this point a cutscene starts to take you into the next level,the medic cant follow you into that level part.on your way back when you reach the ramp parts and its exploding the only way out is via the boxes at the top of the ramps,you can squat to go thru the vent and pick up pistol and drop down but the medic cant,so thats why he turns,as hes not needed,next level when you get into the lift are no medics,medpacks are in the cave after you dispose of the special force guys and enter the final building where you meet your nemisis.
