MSI FX5600 256mb fps probs

Right im totally baffled as 2 y i am only getting an average of 40-45 fps on Antalus. I have:

2.8 Athlon XP
512 RAM
MSI mainboard (a very new one with 8x AGP slot)
and as u know an MSI FX5600 256 ddr.

Now i hear ppl saying its not really a good card any more, but i have seen many websites where they have done benchmarking test with the FX5200-VDTR128 and managed 50fps with all detail on high and runnin at 1024*768. I myself have the FX5600-VDTR256 and im getting 40fps, so wat on earth is the prob, im totally baffled.

Could some1 please please help me out here, its not that bigger deal coz the game is still superb with 40fps, but if i can go higher, all the better.

Thanks 2 any1 that replies,

Regards Dan

re: MSI FX5600 256mb fps probs

If you running everything maxxxed out at 1024x768@32-bit colour depth, then 40-45 frames is about right for your card.

You have to remember, that essentially, this is still a card that scores only 9,000 in 3dmark2001. Although stronger in DX9 games, than the previous 4th generation, you should not be expecting much in top end DX8 games such as UT2003...

A couple of ways to improve you frames rates...

a) Enable trippple buffering in the Unreal Editor, under advanced properties/direct x settings.

b) Turn AF down to 0, in advanced properties also.

c) Turn off shadows, and dynamic lightning - this will dramatically improve your performance.

d) If you have an active cooler, increases your core and memory clockspeed's by about 10%.

e) Disable trilinear filtering... this had a 10% performance impact.

By following these instructions, you'll be on the right side of 60fps at 1024x768x32! With highest texture settings!
