So this game has been sitting in my pile of 'To Be Played's for a long time....

Accurate criticism. I got the game, knowing the PS2 version was this bad, because I didn't have the hardware to play the PC/PS3/360 version.

It let me listen to Lara a bit more, and play through the end of the TRL, TRA, TRU trilogy. It's what I expected. It's what I got. Better than just watching the game on youtube.

It wasn't a great experience, but the insta-deaths weren't a game wrecker for me. (I'm currently playing Fallout 2, which is best described as a large mass of loosely-associated bugs and glitches.)

Actually, after the last three games it's rather obvious TR is in the right hands. Anniversary is hands down finest TR to date, and one of the best games ever made. And if anything, the platforming in this one is excellent, unless you completely suck at it and need a game that plays itself.

Underworld wasn't even a bad one, it was clearly rushed in time for holidays and ended up having inconsistent level design, as well as many bugs and jerky animations at times (most of that was later fixed with a patch).

The opening stage with the sea creature was excellent, as well as the Thailand one, and Mexico. Some of the puzzles were amazing, like the one with Shiva and the new chimney jump is a brilliant addition. Some of the levels are actually dull, samey and lame though, the one under the Manor comes to mind, as well as the disastrous final boss. The Thor's hammer is a silly gimmick.

One thing I still can't understand is why on Earth did Eidos feel it's a good idea to include those pointless, tacked on shooting sections with enemies acting like some kind of Lemmings and an auto-aim.. they add absolutely nothing to the game, only ruin it.

With this one, the graphics are lazy and unfinished, the controls are either too intuitive (can't run and jump off a ledge, because Lara drops down and grabs the edge way too soon) or not intuitive enough (the climbing walls are a huge pain in the ass) and the camera locks up in some very awkward and inconvenient ways and places. Why would I want the camera to be still if I'm hanging off a wall and I have no idea where I'm jumping to?

Also my problem...

This is the worst "Tomb Rider" game I have ever played, the story is nearly the
same as "Tomb Rider: Legend" and the game is far by the easiest of all of the
games. The camera isn't very good either.
