Is 60 Players Online too much??

As excited I am about the 60 players online feature do you think it would be too crowded for it's own good? 30 People (2 teams) all talking at the same time might be more annoying then anything else.

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

According to OPM (Or whatever its called): "The Multiplayer is just as ambitious as the co-op with massive 60 player games. But before you panic about a lobby where everyones shouting at once, the experience will focus around sqaud's, splitting the 2 thirty man teams into smaller groups. So when you join a game you'll instantly see your squad and the enemies corresponding sqaud."

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

As well as 30 on 30 normal, manic team deathmatches Id like to see a lot more startegy involved when there are 60 players.

For instance, a 60 player CTF (not sure if this will even happen though) will be broken into maybe 5 teams of 6 people on each team who are assigned to a specific role at random at the start of the game, this could be things such as attacking the enemy base, capturing flags, defending your own base, setting up defences, etc. So if people were in a squad where they were meant to defend the base, then they would get extra points as it would be doing the job they were assigned to do and helping the team, obviously they could do other things which they arent assigned to do but then they wouldnt gain as many points if it was their role.

Not sure if this is what Insomniac is gonna do but I think it would be great as it would give a sense of strategy and teamwork to the game but without forcing you to do what you were assigned to but you would get exp and level up faster.

Hope you all get what I mean with that lol.

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

Well, It could be really annoying or really fun. It could be annoying cause you would barely get to live for 2 minutes and it would be impossible to get a long kill streak. It would also be pretty hard to capture a flag unless your team is really organised. But... It could be really fun cause it would be like a real war, and it would just be crazy.

So overall, I prefer to have a big number, since you don't have to play 60 player.

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

First there breaking up the people so it's not too crowded, and second it's not like 60 player games are going to be common. In my 6 months of playing Resistance online I've only run into maybe ten 40 player games so it's not like 60 people will be dishing it out everyday

No, not at all.

Everyone's agreed that big battles will be fun.

And when you get bored of the mayhem, just join a smaller server? It's not that difficult?

Yes, the 60-Player online option is a very good thing. I think the fact that there will be that much people in a convo would really bring out the full out war feel that Resistance and other great Playstation 3 games has showcased. And like said before if you don't like it, you can chill out in the convos with not that many people.

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

I like this option, and I feel it's a great step forward. Having larger and larger groups fighting each other only opens up options, although I have to admit inter-game communication is going to be getting more and more annoying as this is going on.

However, one of my major problems with shooters has been that battles known for having hundreds of people fighting have forty, including all AI players in single player. This is especially true for some Star Wars or World War games I've played where I've seen a rocking 30 AI players wandering across a field large enough for thousands. =/

And lets not forget that Insomniac Games have figured out great ways to organize and manage what may seem like a huge bucket of chaos. Every single player will have an objective along with your partners and will be on different parts of the map I believe. This will get people to do things and work with each other in certain parts rather than 40 guys all blasting away in a small space. Lol.

I never even used the 40 player online in the first resistance. I'm cool with around 16 other people.

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

And one more thing, lol. I don't think there is going to be many times where there will actually be sixty people in one session. Maybe during opening week there will be times were there will be or close but I don't believe reaching to sixty will be a possibility a lot of times. I think most people would feel more comfortable in maybe a 20-30, I know I would. Lol.

re: Is 60 Players Online too much??

Since 60 would be the max, that's okay. especially if they have vehicles and actual bases. not like the ones in Assault where they just throw up a few security things, but one where their are turrets, and trenches and sniper holes. maybe even a King of the hill game mode where one team is in the base and the other tries to get them out. the team in the base doesn't respawn and you win by spending the most time in the base.

It's not like there's going to be 600 players at once. 60 player games will be rare, and that will make them all the more fun. The division into small groups will be a lot easier than hectic 40 player games. So relax, it's Resistance, so either way, it's going to be good.

I think if the arena's are bigger than 60 players won't be a problem. Maybe if they are the size of Warhawk arena's. If its like that it would be pretty amazing.
