A Champion Battle!

Blaze’s eyes were set on a TV set into the wall. “Hey, guys! KD is on TV!” He shouted to the others as they walked past him.

Arch, still holding the egg he obtained from the Firestar commanders, and Gemini moved over, while Ms. Parite moved into the back with the supposed Heatran egg. “Who’s he against?” Gemini asked.

“Some guy, but… Have you seen the Pokémon he’s using???” Blaze exclaimed.

KD reeled in the shock wave of the Hyper Beam. He glared at Ayush. No wonder he had asked for a one-Pokémon battle, with that thing on his team. The Rayquaza lashed out at Pikachu with its tail, who dodged nimbly out of the way.

“And KD’s Pikachu somehow managed to dodge the attack from that wonderful Rayquaza!” Star commentated, clearly loving the Rayquaza.

“Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!” KD ordered, and the Pikachu let loose bolts of electricity into the Rayquaza. It didn’t even bother to dodge, and let the electricity lance into it, wincing slightly, though nowhere near knocked out. “Ugh, how do I fight a legendary Pokémon?” KD questioned himself…

While the others were watching the TV, gasping whenever Pikachu was struck and laughing at the compliments Star kept giving the Rayquaza, Gemini was consulting a Pokedex, and browsed over the Pikachu section. He frowned at a particular entry. It stated that due to the unique electromagnetic field of Vohnova, Pikachu’s can learn a new move here, that they can’t anywhere else. One that could beat Rayquaza, if only KD knew of the move...

KD wiped the sweat from his brow and ordered Pikachu to launch another futile attack, which the Rayquaza let hit him again. Ayush laughed in the background.

“Enough toying Rayquaza, end this with a Draco Meteor!” Ayush ordered, though the Rayquaza never got the chance to follow it, for a Cresselia burst into the room from the roof, shining so bright everyone in the stadium were blinded. A figure dropped down from it and ran over to KD.

“Champion, use the move Draco Charge, it’ll help you win!” the figure whispered to him, before jumping back onto the Cresselia, which flew away, and the light went with it.

“Sorry, ladies and gentlemen, I have no idea what that was, but let’s get back to watching that marvellous Rayquaza beating up Pikachu!” Star commentated.

“Gladly! Rayquaza! Prepare to end this with-”

“Pikachu! Use Draco Charge!”KD ordered, not completely sure what the move did. Pikachu looked at him quizzedly, before launching itself into the air. Sparks of energy coiled up from the ground and into Pikachu, and the Pokémon roared with power. Scales formed along the Pikachu’s body, and gigantic wings sprouted from its back. When the Pokémon hit the floor again, Pikachu looked extremely fearsome and powerful, even the Rayquaza backed away. “What the…” KD muttered, surprised at the transformation.

“And KD has used Pikachu’s hidden move, Draco Charge, which transforms Pikachu to its Draconian form, and every Electric –type move it has becomes Dragon-type!” Star mused.

“Perfect!” KD exclaimed. “Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!” the Pokémon leaped onto the Rayquaza and let loose bolts of red lightning, turned Dragon-type by Pikachu’s new form, and super-effective against the huge Dragon, which screamed in anguish and fell to the floor, knocked-out by the supreme power.

“Damnit! That beautiful Rayquaza is down, KD and Pikachu are the victors!” Star groaned.

“Good battle, Ayush.” KD told him, though Ayush remained silent.

“I can’t believe he failed us!” Eclipse growled, pushing the scientist to the floor.

“With respect, my lady, there is always plan 2?” The Scientist told her, and began typing into the server on the wall.

“Very well, just make sure our comrades get out of there first.”

Ayush collapsed, and several medics ran over to him.

“And the challenger has collapsed!” Star shouted. KD walked over to the medics.

“What’s wrong with him?” KD asked, and one of the medics turned to him.

“We can’t detect a heart-beat, and his skin is freezing, as if I had no blood circulating to warm it.” The medic morosely told him. “The only thing we can detect is a ticking sound emanating from him.”

KD raised his eyebrows and lent down next to the fallen challenger. He placed a hand on his chest, to see if he could feel a heart-beat, but to no avail. The cold of his skin could be felt even through the shirt he wore. As KD removed his hand, a stylish ring that he wore on his finger dropped off and fell onto Ayush’s body. A dull clang resonated through the building, like metal hitting metal. A medic lent down and unbuttoned his shirt, and they all pulled back in surprise. He was made of metal; a large timer was embedded into the things chest, counting down.

“So that’s what was making the ticking noise…” KD thought. The timer was down to three minutes, and the medics looked closer at the ‘robot’, the face being revealed as plastic, and being pulled off to reveal mechanical innards. The timer was down to one minute.

KD walked back to Star, and looked across the room. Several people had gotten up to leave from the crowd, and paced quickly past KD towards the door. They all wore red and gold clothing, just like members of Firestar… At that point it was clear, why they needed to quickly leave, and what the robot was counting down to…

The timer hit zero.

The sound of an explosion rocked the entirety of Vohnova as the Pokémon League went up in flames.
