2012 October 28
I wake up, but see darkness blotting my eyes.
"Hello there! It's so very nice to meet you! Welcome to the world of Pokemon!" A voice boomed.
Suddenly, my eyesight cleared, and there was an old man with white, scruffy, tufty hair and a mustache. He wore a white shirt, black tie, and over that, a royal blue vest, and navy blue pants. One hand rested on his hip, the other limp to his side. A suitcase was beside his feet.
"What the hell?" I murmured.
"My name is Rowan. However, everyone just calls me the Pokemon Professor." He continued on, emotionless.
I was dumbfounded. So... suddenly, I had spawned in some random world with an old man who thinks that me spawning on a random world with him was totally cool and fine...? What?
And what are "Pokemon"? Crazy old man.
"Before I go any further, is this your first adventure? If you need advice, I'm certainly capable of giving it."
"What?" I stared.
He continued on.
"This world is widely inhabited by creatures known as Pokemon." He suddenly held out his hand, revealing a large, spherical ball. "Here I have a Poke Ball."
I groaned. "What the heck is this, old man?"
He ignored me. "Touch the button in the middle of the Poke Ball, if you'd please."
Cautiously, I took my finger and slowly pushed the button. A bright white light engulfed my face, and when I could see again, past the light, I saw a fatty creature, some type of blue colored thing, with ogre-like teeth, a creamy colored collar and under-jaw and paws. I couldn't help my jaw dropping in awe. What were these cute little things? "We humans live alongside Pokemon as friends. At times we play together, and at other times we work together. Some people use their Pokemon to battle and develop closer bonds with them."
I squinted at him, thinking he was insane. These creatures were called Pokemon. I had picked that up. It made sense at first, but when Professor Rowan reached the part about battling, I was once again dumbstruck. Why would you have your Pokemon pets battle each other? How did that increase bonds?
"What do I do? I conduct research so that we may learn more about Pokemon. Now, why don't you tell me about yourself? Are you a boy? Or are you a girl?"
I stared at him with incredulity, "Are you serious? I'm a girl, duh!" I knew what I looked like:
A white beanie hat, gold earrings, long, wavy, blue-gray hair, blue eyes, my favorite blue and pink dress, with blue socks, pink boots, a long red scarf, a watch, and a golden purse.
"All right, so you're a girl?" Rowan peered at me.
"YES, DARNIT!" I yelled at him.
"Tell me, what is your name?"
I groaned, then told him the one that had popped into my mind. "Nova."
"Your name is Nova?"
"YES, I JUST TOLD YOU THAT! ARE YOU SO OLD AND DEAF YOU CAN'T HEAR?" I screamed angrily.
"OK... So, you're Nova?"
My eye twitched.
"A fine name that is! Now, this boy here... I believe he's your friend." Rowan and his things disappeared, and instead, a hologram image of a boy took his place. He had blonde hair that curled up, amber-brown eyes, a white and orange striped jacket, blue scarf, navy pants, and brown shoes and a satchel.
"What might his name be?" Rowan asked.
I facepalmed. "Dude, I don't even know this guy. But for the heck of it... let's go with Lucifer, after his demonic hairstyle. Ick."
"Lucifer, is it? That's your friend's name?"
A vein popped out of my forehead. "Yes, old man. Yes." I tried to say calmly.
The hologram disappeared, and Rowan reappeared again, "All right, Nova, the time has come. Your very own tale of grand adventure is about to unfold. On your journey, you will meet countless Pokemon and people. I'm sure that along the way you will discover many things, perhaps even something about yourself. Now, go on, leap into the world of Pokemon!"
I shook my head as Rowan disappeared once more, and suddenly, I seemed to get smaller and smaller, and with a poof, I was staring at a TV screen. I observed its contents intently. There was a program with a purplish mountain, and a lake and trees.
'Despite the exploration team's best efforts, however, the rare, oddly colored Pokemon eluded detection. The rumored red Gyarados failed to appear, even fleetingly, to the crestfallen team... That concludes our special report, "Search for the Red GYARADOS!' Brought to you by Jubilife TV on Nationwide Net! See you next week, next time, next channel!"
I scowled and trodded down the stairway in my apparent room, after quickly observing it. There were posters, a window, a bed, a Wii, a PC, a mat, the TV, a potted plant in the corner, a clock, a desk and chair, simple household items.
The moment I stepped downstairs, my supposed Mom swiveled her head towards me, then ran to me.
"Nova! Lucifer came calling for you a little white ago. I don't know what it was about, but he said it was an emergency." She then walked back to her seat in front of the TV, watching the programs. I scoffed. That crazy guy was a troublemaker already, I knew. I glanced around my house. A mat, two cusions for sitting on in front of the TV, a window, a fridge and freezer, a sink and dishwasher, a table, counter, chair/stool, two potted plants, rugs, etc.
A boring house, I thought, but I had to be grateful. I sighed, and was about to exit the house to find him, and my Mom turned to me again.
"Oh, yes! Nova! Don't go into the tall grass. Wild Pokemon might attack you. It would be OK if you had your own Pokemon, but you don't, so..."
Wild Pokemon? I shivered with the thought. My own Pokemon? Where could I obtain that? I exited the house after Mom's talk, and emerged into my new town. Twinleaf Tow. It was pretty and surrounded by nature. There was grass everywhere, and dirt roads. There was a pond right in front of our house, a thick, dense forest of trees surrounding our town, and only four houses.. There was a fat man in blue lounging next to the pond. When I talked to him, he talked about how amazing technology was today and how you could play with people arund the world wirelessly.
There were fences containing patches of flowers, and I wanted to check them, but a man with spiky, golden hair stopped me, telling me to find Lucifer first.
I went to his house, and was about to open the door, but it already opened, and with a THUD!! Lucifer himself ran out and bumped right into me. "Hey Nova! I'm going to the lake! You can come too! And be quick about it! I'll fine you a million Pokedollars if you're late!" He scurried away, and came right back, saying he needed something he had forgotten. He re-entered his house and I followed, all the way up to his room. He was packing his Bag and Journal. He turned to me. "I'll wait on the road! 10 million Pokedollar fine for tardiness!" He shouted, pushing past me, downstairs and out the door. I looked after him flatly.
"You're the one who had to go back for your stuff." I retorted.
I ran to the road.
"Hey you saw that program about the red Gyarados, right? The mysterious appearance of the furious Pokemon in a lake! I think there's a Gyarados like that in our lake too! That's what we're doing. We're gonna find a Pokemon like that! You go take the lead to the lake."
The horror hit me.
This crazy dude wanted me to find a red sea serpent of doom in a lake I hardly knew.

Hello again, Nova Blue/Nova here ;D Just finished another small portion of Pearl :3
October 30, 2012
When I regained my wits, I was standing in front of Lucifer. Dazed, I recounted the events of- holy snap! I remembered, this mental boy wanted me to... oh, I don't know, search for a gigantic, red, enraged sea serpent in the local lake, alone, no defenses? Right.
I gulped. I knew I had no choice. This was the savage world I'd gone into. I walked ahead, the dirt path slowly giving way to grass. There were slightly raised ridges preventing me from going anywhere too far, and a sign slightly off the dirt path with a large white arrow and large white text saying:
Routes? What? Aren't they called roads, or streets, or avenues, or boulevards? Whatever...
As I walked, Lucifer trailed behind me, and eventually the whole environment began to alter ever so slightly.
Somewhere in my head, I knew I was in Verity Lakefront...
Another sign right before a tunnel surrounded by trees popped up, with an arrow pointing ahead.
"Lake Verity Ahead
The Lake of Emotions"
Whoa. Okay, maybe the Red Sea Serpent of Rage really was nesting here.
Slowly, we approached the tunnel, and right when we were about to enter, Lucifer scared the life out of me by screaming in my ear, "All right! To the lake! Let's find us a red GYARADOS! Woo!"
Shivering, I decided to run through the tunnel as fast as I could, thinking, Let's just get this over with...!
When light broke through on the other side, I squinted. All around me was beauty. Trees everywhere, grass, and, gulp, that tall grass Mom was talking about. And of course, it was the lake. Lake Verity, I supposed. Pretty, blue, deep, and perfect. But there was something else there... And, Lucifer, with that always present cheerfulness edging his voice spoke, "Ooh! What's going on...?"
Ahead, we saw an old man, whom I immediately recognized as that insane, deaf old Professor called Rowan. I wanted to blurt out, "Hey, old man, whatcha doing here!?" But I decided to keep shut. Beside him, a nice, friendly looking boy with a red hat, a blue and white polo shirt, and a yellow backpack was peering at the lake intensely, saying, "Professor Rowan, there's nothing out of the ordinary on the other side, either!"
The Professor made his oh-I-am-the-professor-I-shall-act-professional face, and said, "Hmm... I may have been mistaken... Something appears to be different than it was before, but... Fine! It's enough that we have seen the lake. Lucas," He turned to the boy, his hands behind his back. "we're leaving."
The two guys glanced at each other, and the boy spoke. "Professor, you've been gone for four years now..."
I almost wanted to say, "Hey, um, I know we're total strangers and all, and, um, I've kinda been eavesdropping and this is gonna sound weird, but that crazy old guy just saw me yesterday and interrogated me about my gender and crap, I certainly don't believe that was four years."
But of course, that would've gotten all messy...
Lucas was continuing: "How are you enjoying being back in Sinnoh?"
Sinnoh!? Was that where I was? That was this crazy world? Rowan had said it was the "Pokemon world." Or the "World of Pokemon."
This is deathly confusing.
"...Hm. There is one thing I can say. There are many rare kinds of Pokemon in Sinnoh. The region should serve us very well in regard to our studies." What were these dudes talking about...? I looked at them with disbelief.
This is so boring...
Suddenly, they whipped towards us, and the Professor and the boy Lucas passed by. "Excuse me. Let us pass, please." Rowan smiled, and he glanced at me with an almost evil smile.
Yeah, he knew me and definitely recognized me from that really... hrm, unusual day.
The Professor walked away, through the tunnel, and Lucas lingered behind, smiling at the both of us nervously, saying, "Sorry, folks."
"Uh, no need to be sorry...?" I mumbled. He didn't hear, I presumed, as he disappeared down the tunnel as well.
Lucifer shifted his look away from the tunnel, and grunted. "Weird! What was that about. Those two... Huh? Nova! Let's go check this out!" He was pointing to the tall grass...
I stared at him, my jaw opened.
"Are you-- and pardon my extremely bad language, please-- but are you a mentally retarded, crazy, insane, dumbcrack? My Mom, and probably your mom too, said tall grass is off limits! Wild Pokemon, remember? I dunno, I guess some wild boar's gonna come charging out?"
"What's that?" Lucifer looked at me like I had said nothing important. "Don't go into the tall grass? No problem, no problem!" He laughed. Yes, laughed. "We won't be i there long enough for a wild Pokemon to come out."
"B-but! B-but! But! Wild hogs! Boars! Cheetahs, m-maybe? Y-ya know. E-erm. Hehe. Eheh. Wild means wild for a reason. Let's just-"
He took my hand and dragged me into the tall grass, much to my protesting. "W-wait! WILD POKEMON, YOU DUMB-"
"It's... a briefcase?" Lucifer muttered, completely ignoring me, holding on tight to my wrist like I was his obedient slave. I groaned and facepalmed with my other hand. This guy was a complete moron. We were dead for sure! He was probably attracting attention by his talking. Wild Pokemon were sure to pop out any moment! My heart was thumping so loud, I thought that my heart was attracting a lot of attention too...
Lucifer continued as I was seemingly having the crisis of my life- the decision between life or death- behind him.
"AUUGHGHHGHGH!" I mumbled while anxiously bit my fingers.
"Those people forgot it here. What are we supposed to do with it?" Lucifer pondered out loud, while I was freaking out.
He thrust his finger in the air. "We can try to deliver it, but who are they? I heard them say professor..." He shouted.
"AUGGHHHHH JUST SHADDUP PLEASE, LUCIFER! YOU'RE GOING TO DRAW SOME WILD POKEM-"
Just then, a wild cry split into the air, and two silvery gray birds flocked towards us.
"Waaah! Po-Pokemon?" Lucifer squealed. I looked at him and the birds flatly, and I finished my sentence with great defeat. "Pokemon. Wild Pokemon." I sighed. Dead for sure. The birds might look cute and friendly, but I saw their blood red, wild eyes, talons flexing, ready to attack. Oh, boy.
"What's going on?!" Lucifer screamed. I gripped him by the throat. "Oh, my gosh, for the love of Pokemon, puh-lease shuddup, before more come over here to see what noise you're making! Pleaaaseee Lucifer, I'm too freaking young to die!"
He gulped, and then stepped backward, accidentally knocking over the briefcase the two boys had left behind, unlatching it and spilling the contents out. I widened my eyes. Poke Balls! The sphere things that summoned Pokemon! Lucifer knew it too.
"Look! These are Poke Balls! Let's battle using these! Eh...? Which one do you want, then? Hurry, Nova!" He cried.
Dread crossed my face, and I examined them. As I touched each ball, I felt a connection, and a feeling. One had a kind, trusting heart, cool to the touch. The other had a blunt, healing feel. The other had an impish, blazing, fiery spirit. I wanted this one. I took it, pushed the button like I had with the little assessment from the other day with Professor Rowan, and out popped the most adorable little monkey ever. Its forehead was twisted into furry curls, its ears were ginormous, its tail had a cute little ember. It was amber colored, his eyes were brown. I wanted to snuggle him, but not now. He growled at the bird, screaming, "Chim! Chi-im! Chimchar!"
Whatever his little cheer meant, I loved it.
The bird screeched in return. "Star! Starrr-ly! Starly!"
I scowled. Did this bird just steal my precious Pokemon pet's cheering idea? Whatever.
"Fight, my pet!" I yelled.
My monkey just stood there, scratching its ear.
"Erm... beat it up!"
I moaned. I picked up the monkey, and right then its thoughts transferred to me, magically.
Human, human, this bird is threatening me, why won't you just command me to Scratch it?
I dropped it, and it landed with a soft plop on the grass. It oohed and ah-ahed like the little monkey it was, and looked up at me expectantly.
The fiery monkey grunted with a mix of happiness, excitement, and preparation.
Then it charged at the gray bird, fingers outstretched, nails sharp and pointy scratching it across its front.
"Starrr! Starrrrr! STARLY!" It growled.
The fire monkey winced, its eyes softening. I stared at the two of them. What did that do...? I shrugged, and screamed out, "Scratch!" again.
The fire monkey screeched and scratched the bird across its face once more.
The bird attempted to make a move against my little chimp, but at the last moment, lost her balance and toppled away.
My monkey scratched the bird on her wing, and by this time, the bird was panting heavily, almost beaten. My monkey wasn't even hurt. It snorted, emitting black smoke from his nostrils, and pounded the ground with his fists, a challenge to the bird.
With a tone of finality, I yelled out, "Scratch!" My new pet lunged towards the bird, and it screamed, and passed out and remained hidden in the tall grass. The chimp pet of mine glowed, it seemed, as he finished the battle, unhurt and triumphant.
I looked up. Lucifer had just finished his face-off with the other bird with his Pokemon. Lucifer grinned at me, his chin high.
"Fwaaah! Your CHIMCHAR totally rocked!" I stared. Chimchar? That's what that Pokemon was?
"But," Lucifer scoffed. "my PIPLUP was way tougher than yours!" He snorted like a pig.
"Ugh. Whatever, my Chimchar or whatever you call it was much better in every way." I was forming a rivalry with Lucifer. I could tell. I looked fondly at the Poke Ball in which Chimchar had returned to shortly after the battle.
In my head, I wondered what this "Piplup" was.
Lucifer then glanced at me sadly. "...They were other people's Pokemon, though... But we had to use them... They won't mind, will they?" He was suddenly nervous. I thought of this, too, sad that we would probably have to return the Pokemon and we'd never see them again.
Just then, the boy named Lucas shuffled into the Lakefront, huffing, eyes huge.
"Whew! You found the briefcase? The professor would've gone through the rood if he knew I forgot it here..."
Me and Lucifer both gulped, and we took our borrowed Poke Balls that contained those beloved Pokemon, and held them up. "Erm, after an encounter with some wild Starlys, we had to use them. Our apologies." Lucifer stuttered grimly.
Starlys? Were those the Pokemon? I suddenly realized those battle cries or cheers at the beginning of the battle were the Pokemon's name. Fascinating!
"Hunh?" Lucas seemed to not know what they were talking about. He processed the info steadily, then cried out, "Whaaaaat?! Did you guys... Did you seriously use these Pokemon?!"
Lucifer gulped and tried to explain, "Yeh, um, so sorry! It was an emergency..."
Lucas continued to flip out. "Oooohhhhhhhh, oh, man, how am I gonna explain this to the professor? This briefcase is the professor's, so I'll take it, OK?"
Lucas hastily snatched the briefcase and ran off, without the Pokemon. Lucifer shrugged. "Huh. Wonder what that was about...?
I stared at him bluntly. Oh, we used their special, top-secret, personal Pokemon pets, and you don't even feel guilty, huh?
He stepped forward and looked at me in the eye. "I don't know what's going on. Nova, let's get out of here. My Pokemon got hurt from that battle. If we get attacked by another Pokemon, we might be in trouble."
I glared at him, thinking, Says the guy who wanted to find a freaking giant, red, raged, sea serpent! A little Pokemon that can't beat a bird certainly can't beat that, eh?
As he walked away, I followed him, and then he said, "Eh, you go ahead now, I want to spend more time with this little Pokemon, even though its not ours," as we exited the tunnel on the other side.
I shrugged. For once I didn't blame him. I walked towards Twinleaf Town...
What would happen next?

November 4, 2012
I looked ahead. The old man Rowan and the boy were facing each other. Cautiously, I approached, Lucifer slowly walking behind me. Like a flash, the Professor glanced at us, and Lucifer shouted,
"Hey, it's those people! Is that old guy staring at us?"
Professor Rowan walked towards us, studying us. As if he hasn't studied me enough. I thought sourly.
"Whatcha looking it?"
"Hmm..." Rowan hummed, his hands clasped behind his back. "I heard from Lucas that you used our Pokemon? Let me see them, please." I gulped, and me and Lucifer lifted our Poke Balls. No. Their Poke Balls. Whatever.
"Hmm..." Rowan hummed again. "Chimchar and Piplup... .... Hmm.... I see... That's how it is..."
Rowan whirled around to face the Lucas boy, and then walked professionally towards him, saying, "Lucas! I'm going back to my lab!"
Lucas jumped, then nervously said, "Uh... Yeah, of course! Professort, wait for me! You should visit ourlab later, I think. We'll be seeing you!"
I grunted. I just wanted to spend some darn time with my Mom who I don't know too much. And where the heck is my Dad? Seriously, I haven't heard of or from my Dad ever! What. Ever.
I think that's going to be my new signature. Whatever. I like it!
Anyways, I was about to follow them back to Twinleaf Town, but the idiot Lucifer butted into my thoughts and plans once more and thought out loud, "I mean, if he was angry, he could've just yelled at us, or whatever... And didn't he want their Pokemon back? Nova... We should go home, too..."
I looked at him, my eye twitching, as I thought I figured that out too, idiot! Oh, and I was also just about to go home, when you just wasted ten second of my life! Is there a way to get rid of annoying boys? Unfortunately, no. Whatever.
I returned home after tripping Lucifer while he was walking back to town with me. I pretended it was an accident, and he fell for it, even though he clearly saw my foot spring up in front of his legs.
Is this whole world so gullible, naive, and absolutely irritating?
When I went inside the house, I saw my Mom working in the kitchen. I followed her around a bit, hinting that I wanted to talk to her.
She finally sat down on a cushion in front of the TV and knelt down so she was at my eye level. "What's up, dear?"
I explained everything, from Lucifer's mental illness, to that mission to capture a red, raging sea serpent that was four times bigger than me, practically stealing another person's pet, and just wanting to die in the end.
She took that in much calmer than I thought.
"Wow. I can't believe that happened to you." Was all she said.
"Am I ever glad that both you an Lucifer are unharmed." I scowled. I wish Lucifer had been harmed. Too bad. "The professor you mentioned is most likely Professor Rowan of Sandgem Town."
I wanted to gasp and say in a sarcastic voice, 'Oh, that's so amazing, ooh, ahh!'
But no, I really wanted to punch everyone, from Mom to Lucifer to the Professor all in the face. Mom continued. "I've heard he is well known for his studies on Pokemon. I hear he's also quite intimidating..." I almost wanted to laugh. Well known? Never heard of him. How reputable. Intimidating? More like irritating.
"Nova, I think you need to visit him in Sandgem Town. You need to properly explain why you had no choice but to use his Pokemon."
I groaned, and thought, Mom, your be-on-good-behavior-now-that-you've-spanwed-in-a-new-world lecture isn't really working out for me now, I'm exhausted, please let me sleep in my own bed in my own house, peacefully for once!
"Don't worry!" She pulled out a big, stupid grin. I wanted to facepalm. How can I not worry about an "intimidating" Professor who probably wants to grind my head out of my body for using his super ultra rare, perfectly selected pets? And how can I not worry about this throbbing exhaustion pounding in my head?
"I'm sure he'll understand!" Mom smiled again, then pulled out a box, while I was thinking that she knew nothing about the depth of the events that just happened, and how annoying and bird-brained she was, just like Lucifer.
"Oh, I know, Nova! Put these on!" She opened the box, and there was a pair of red and white shoes. "Um." I looked at them. What was different from them with my shoes?
"Going to Sandgem Town is like an adventure in itself, right? With those Running Shoes, you can get to faraway places much faster. OK... Let me read the instructions."
I dropped my jaw in disbelief. Are you kidding me? Shoes for running? I can already run! I ran already, right? Are these like, supernatural speed-inducing shoes? Instructions? Okay, that means they must have some kind of switch to go into rocket-boost mode or something.
"Press the B Button and dash about faster than ever before! Put on the Running Shoes and blaze new trails of adventure! Well, isn't that just nifty!"
My mouth still hung open, and I kept it that way. Okay, so that confirmed my thoughts. I can already run, but it makes me run faster. Blaze new trails of adventure? Oh, that is just cheesy! Nifty, hm? We'd see how nifty it would get. I pulled on the shoes after kicking off my new ones and found that "B" button right on the back of either shoe. I clicked one, and suddenly I felt this surge of speed. "Um?"
I ran to the door and would have face-planted into it had I not outstretched my hand.
I knocked open the door, and clicked the B button again, turning it off. From then on, I slowly just strolled out of the house, and out of town, and reached route 201. I gulped as I saw tall grass. Wincing, I put my foot in a patch of it, then continued, foot after foot. Suddenly, a screech seemed to push upwards from under me, and a familiar creature warped out. "STARRRRLY!" It screamed in my face.
Crap. One of those birds. But then again, it hardly harmed my little Chimchar, so what was I to worry about?
I fumbled around with my belt, which held my single Poke Ball. I pulled it out and pressed the button, unleashing the cute little monkey. Its fire blazed, and he pounded his chest. "Chim, Chim, Chimcharrr!" He growled at the bird. I guess he recognized it too.
"Scratch!" I snarled. Lunging, my pet monkey scratched the bird Starly with his nails. He dug deep into the birds wings, and it screamed a blood-curdling screech. "Whoa." I gasped. "That was quite a critical hit."
The Starly punded its talons and charged at Chimchar, and attacked using some move, but it barely damaged him.
"Scratch it, my boy!" I shouted triumphantly. With an almost effortless slash, the Starly was down and defeated. "Yes!" I punched the air happily. Suddenly, Rowan's words made sense to me. When we battle, we battle to win. And winning... we feel closer to each other than ever- me and Chimchar, that is.
Reluctantly, I made Chimchar return into the Poke Ball. I wanted to see him walk by my side always, but I knew, somewhere in my mind, he had to stay inside the ball.
As I walked along the route, a few people were scattered around, talking about random things. Some about wild grass, some about Pokemon health. I trudged along a field of tall grass and suddenly, another Starly popped out.
I did the same thing as I had done the past two times. Scratch, scratch, and scratch again. After three Scrathces, the Starly had once more fainted, and we were victorious once more. Chimchar glowed like he always did after winning a battle, and something else, something different happened. Chimchar seemed to grow...
Something clicked in the dusty parts of my mind.
He had just leveled up. That's what it was called. I ran ahead, through the field, and soon arrived at Sandgem Town, where Lucas was waiting for me. "Hi! I've been waiting for you!" He admitted it. "Please, come with me."
He grabbed my hand and gently tugged me towards a building, saying, "The prof's waiting to see you."
He showed me a moderately large building, then said, "See? This is our Pokemon Research Lab. We'll just go ahead and..."
And then it was like deja vu. Lucifer came running out, and with a THUD!! he bumped into me. Like how we first met.
With a jump, he looked at me, then spoke. "What the... Oh, it's you, Nova!"
You didn't recognize me at first? Wow...
"That old guy... He's not scary so much as he is totally out there!"
I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh or punch him.
"Aww, it doesn't matter, Nova. I'm outta here, see you later!"
He skittered away, leaving me and Lucas to stare after him, dumbfounded by his odd appearance.
"What was that?!"
I wanted to laugh. He spoke my exact thoughts.
"Your friend always seems to be in such a rush!"
"I know! Man, you know how I feel!" I muttered under by breath.
"Anyway... Let's go in." Him and I both walked into the Lab, then we confronted the Professor.
He was silent as he examined me. "Finally, you've come. Nova, was it?"
I wanted to kick him. I told him once, then twice, in that weird assessment day, and now, here?
"Yes." I said.
"Let me see your Pokemon again." He nodded. I was taken aback. 'Your'? Not his Pokemon? Why didn't he say 'my'? How strange.
I handed him Chimchar. I won't ever see you again, bud. Too bad. I sniffled. Chimchar was gone now.
The Professor studied the ball for a second, then said, "Hmm... I see... This Pokemon seems to be rather happy. All righty then! I'll give that Chimchar to you as a gift."
I wanted to faint with joy. No longer did I want to harm Professor Rowan.
Maybe he wasn't as cray-cray as I thought. Maybe he was really a wise, sage genius!
"Now that it's yours, would you like to give it a nickname?" My jaw dropped. I could do that? Wait, I thought its name was Chimchar!? Or was that just the name of its species? Whatever.
I would nickname it.
"Yes. P-Y-R-O. Pyro. I want my Chimchar renamed Pyro."
"Hmm, OK, I see... And you're happy with that nickname?"
"Yes!" I wanted to scream with happiness.
"Your friend Lucifer told me what happened at the lake. I heard you battled very well, despite it being your first time. And, from what I can see, there is a growing bond between you and that Pokemon, though it is still young. That's why I would like to entrust you with Chimchar."
I opened up the Poke Ball, letting out Pyro, and petted him. I magically knew everything about him. Male, Level 6, Nicknamed Pyro, Scratch and Growl are his only two moves...
"Boy, I'm glad you're kind toward Pokemon. If you weren't, well... I don't even want to think about it."
"Er-hem! Let's move on to the main topic. There is something I want you to do for me."
I knew there was a catch.
"My name is Rowan. I study Pokemon."
I became irritated again. I knew this already from that assessment thing!
"First of all, I want to know exactly what kinds of Pokemon live in the Sinnoh region. To do so, it is necessary to collect data using the Pokedex. This is what I which to ask of you. I want to entrust you with this Pokedex. Will you use it to record data on all the Pokemon in Sinnoh for me?"
I dropped my jaw, again, in amazement.
A Chimchar and a super awesome cool job? Suh-weet! I nodded eagerly. "Yes!"
"Hm! Good answer!"
He handed me the Pokedex, and I examined it. It peeped out, "Hello, I am DEX 9000, you can call me Dexxor.
I work for..." It beeped. "Nova."
"That Pokedex is a very high-tech device." Rowan continued. I nodded, impressed by its structure.
"It will automatically record data on every kind of Pokemon you encounter. Nova, I ask that you go everywhere and meet every kind of Pokemon in this region!"
The world, to me.
Lucas poked me. "I've got the same kind of Pokedex as you."
Rowan said, "When you walked up Route 201 with your Pokemon, what did you feel? I've lived for 60 long years, Even now, I get a thrill when I'm with a Pokemon. Now, you should know that there are countless Pokemon in this world."
"That means there are just as many thrills waiting for you out there! Now go! Nova, your grand adventure begins right now!"
Deja vu again. Didn't he say that on my assessment day thingy?
Lucas grabbed my shoulders and turned me towards him. "The professor asked me to help, so I'm going to go out and fill the Pokedex pages, too. That makes us comrades working toward the same goal. I'll teach you stuff later, OK?"
A new, grand adventure. A tale of thrills.
How wonderful indeed!

Nov 07, 12 at 10:46pm ^re: A Saunter Through Sinnoh with Fire types!
Hellooooooo again! :3 Enjoy, my friends, be back tomorrow (since I have nothing else to do XD)
November 7, 2012
I nodded to the Professor, then walked out that door. Bump! I felt the solid body of Lucas standing in front of me, his face distorted by shade and sun.
"Hey, Nova! I want to show you a few things. So, follow me!" He smiled and took my hand, dragging me along around the town. Eventually we reached a nearby building. "This building with the red roof is the Pokemon Center."
"Um, first, that's an orange roof, I think...? Wait... hm, what, wait... Anyways, second, a Pokemon Center?"
"You can get your Pokemon healed if its been hurt in battle. You'll find a Pokemon Center in most towns. "
He pulled me over to another building. "Over here, the building with the blue roof is the Poke Mart. It's a shop where you can buy and sell all sorts of items. Nova, since you're a rookie Trainer, you won't be able to buy very much stuff. Don't worry about it, OK?"
I frowned. Wait, was it a pawn shop? Buy and sell all sorts of items... Yeah, it sure sounded like it.
Lucas turned to me, then suddenly hopped, as if he was startled or had some kind of revelation.
"Oh, yeah, right! Nova... You should let your family know you're helping Prof. Rowan put together his Pokedex. Sometimes you have to go far away, so you should let someone know. Oh, but first, go heal up your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center. You'll be safe then. OK, be seeing you!"
Lucas trotted away, hands in pockets, shuffling towards probably the Lab. I shrugged.
Then I scowled, my face deeply distorted by wrinkles from my dark frown.
Are you serious? Go back through those fields of Pokemon just waiting to ambush me? Well, at least Pyro and I could "grow a closer bond". Whatever...
I pushed open the door to the Center, then walked up to the counter.
"Hello, and welcome to the Pokemon Center. We restore your tired Pokemon to full health. Would you like to rest your Pokemon?"
"Yes..." I mumbled. I fumbled around with my Poke Ball, then handed it in to the nurse, who had pink hair, a blue nurse gown/shirt, and a white cap with that universal red cross sign signaling she would take care of patients. She took the Poke Ball and inserted it in some capsule-like machine, then closed it, pressed a few buttons, and soon, the machine made a techno kind of tune, and the nurse pulled out the ball and handed it back to me.
"Thank you for waiting. We've restored your Pokemon to full health. We hope to see you again!"
I stared at her. I whispered in a slightly angry tone into her ear, "So you want my precious Pyro to get hurt again?"
She looked at me, stunned, eyes wide, "Noooooooooo, no, no, no, no, nooooo!" She was freaking out.
I walked away, back turned to her, out the door.
My gosh, this world surely was strange.
I sprinted out of Sandgem Town, and into Route 201. I ran and hopped over those peculiar ridges, kind of trying to avoid the grass. I wanted my good little Pyro to gain levels and bond with me, yes, but I hated seeing him get hurt. I would do that when I went back to Sandgem.
I was going back, right? I stopped worrying about that and focused on jumping over the last ridge, which led me to Twinleaf Town. I quickly burst through the door of my house and talked to my Mom.
"Welcome home, Nova. Are you and your Pokemon healthy?"
I looked at her, bewildered. Was she psychic? She never witnessed Rowan letting me have Pyro! Unless she stalked me! Did I just waste my time coming back then? Or, did someone inform her somehow?
Whatever, I know it's just because this whole insane world is just absolutely weird!
"I just made dinner. Take a rest, dear." I started to protest. We weren't even hurt or tired out! I wanted to facepalm. Was I supposed to battle on my way back? Ohhhh my gosh. Whatever...! Mom hustled me into my room and into my snug little bed with Pyro, and we had dinner in bed, then we went to sleep, to get some rest.
I awoke with Pyro scurrying around my room. I picked him up and returned him to his Poke Ball before he could seriously damage anything... he had already singed the curtains. I galloped downstairs, and my Mom looked at me from the cushion in front of the TV.
"What's up, Nova?" She smiled at me, and patted the space next to her, signaling me to come over. I sighed. Let me guess. Once I told her, she'd freak out, blow kisses to me, hug me excessively, say good luck too much, be overprotective, pack a giant pack of unnecessary stuff that she thought would help me, etc. Right?
I gulped and told her everything.
"Oh, Mom, I dunno, I kinda had to go to Sandgem and they were waiting for me, and I offered to give back the Pokemon like the good little angel I am. Oh, and they just let me keep it, isn't that great? So, hm, it's name is Pyro, so, yeah. I'm only just going to be traveling the world in search of other perhaps life threatening Pokemon, maybe meet up with some trainers and fight our pets to the death? Sound good to you?"
I winced as Mom's eyebrows slowly rose. Yep. Any second now, that oh-honey-i-believe-in-you-gimme-a-smooch-i-am-going-to-miss-you-so-much-oh-i-am-so-proud-of-you-daughter-i-trust-in-you speech would erupt from her mouth.
But instead, "Wow. Professor Rowan asked you to do something that big."
In my head, Wow. By that tone, are you implying your daughter can't handle it?
"OK, dear, go for it! Your mom's got your back!"
That's more like it.
"Oh, I know! Nova, I've got something you'll find useful." I leaned forward. Were they some Extra-Boost Running Shoes? Hm....?
She pulled out a pink, lacy, spirally book. "A Journal!" She cried out sweetly. She took my golden purse and shoved it in.
"That's a Journal, alright. It keeps a record of your daily events."
"I know how to use a freaking journal, Mom. My gosh, I'm not five years old. I'm actually 11."
"Check it, and you'll be able to remember what you did last." I gasped. Well! I wasn't so good at memory, so maybe this could be handy after all!
"Gee, a journey full of adventure... I envy you, kiddo."
She called me kiddo? What kind of mom says that? Oh, wait, is that supposed to be normal? Whatever...!
"Plus, you're not alone." Mom continued, putting her bluish hair aside and brushing her white shirt and pink skirt... "You have your Pokemon with you. I wish I could go instead!"
"Ha-ha, I'm just joking, dear! Yup, Nova!"
"I'll be all right by myself, so you go and enjoy your adventure! When you're exposed to new things, and experience new sensations... It makes your mother happy too. ...But come back sometimes. I would like to see the kinds of Pokemon you've caught, dear."
It was really, really surprising, troubling, and disturbing that this mother would easily let her little eleven year old daughter go travel the world with only a bunch of untamed pets. But I wouldn't tell her that, of course.
Suddenly, rudely, a fat, plump lady with brown, curled hair and a pink shirt and white apron burst through the door.
Way to ruin a saddening mother-daughter moment, lady! I thought, though I wanted to scream it at this stranger. But I hesitated. She looked familiar...
"Excuse me." She began.
Yeah, you better excuse yourself, bursting through our door and all. I thought.
"Is my little Lucifer here?" It was creepy, how Lucifer was the name of the devil and all, and how she calmly said that out and loud. It also immediately dawned on me that this was obviously his Mom. I felt bad for her, being the mother of a mentally disturbed kid and all.
My Mom frowned. "Oh? No, he's not..."
"Oh... Then, he must have left already... What to do... That boy shouted about going on an adventure, then bolted."
I shook my head slightly. See? He was really mentally disturbed. I actually took my time to say bye to my Mom.
"He's so headstrong and reckless... I at least wanted him to take this..." I yawned. Why was she telling us this?
"Not to worry, Nova will deliver that to him. Won't you, Nova?" I snapped to full attention. Oh. That's why.
"What? I will?" I blurted out. Lucifer's mom turned to me, her eyes delighted. "Oh, really? You'd do that for me?"
I opened my mouth, about to reject it, since I didn't want to see that psycho again, but that rude, plump lady didn't let me have a chance. "Nova, please take this to Lucifer for me." She shoved a parcel into my arms. My Mom looked at me, eagerness and pride on her face. "Bye-bye, Nova! Enjoy your adventure!"
Lucifer's mom stroked her chin, as if she had some kind of lady-beard. "Let me think... Knowing my boy, he would probably head straight to Jubilife City... OK, please take that to my Lucifer. Byyyeee!" She waved, and skipped out the door.
I wanted to facepalm right then and there.
Where and how could I possibly get to some random city I didn't know of? Gah! Whatever!
I slowly walked out the door, and began to run up to Route 201, and prepared myself. I ran through the fields, but, strangely, no Pokemon popped out. I arrived at Sandgem town quickly, then I looked around. Nobody around to show me what to do. I shrugged. I walked up the unknown route which was probably Route 202 out of Sandgem Town.
There was a patch of tall grass, and I was about to step in it, when Lucas popped out of the blue and said, "Nova, do you know how to catch a Pokemon? I'll demonstrate how to catch one, so just watch, OK?" I sighed. Alright...
We walked around the patch, and suddenly, some really derpy looking beaver popped out, yelling in a really derpy voice, "Bidoof! Bidoooooof, doof, doof!"
M'kay, its name was Bidoof. Odd.
Lucas pulled out his Poke Ball like a pro, and unleashed it. I gasped in awe as I saw a cute, green little turtle-like creature with a sprouted plant on the top of its head and a brown shell. "Turtwig! Turr-turrtwig!" Aww! It had a cute little name! Turtwig! I wonder if it had a nickname... probably not.
Lucas nodded, then yelled out, "Turtwig, Tackle!"
The Turtwig rammed the Bidoof hard, and the Bidoof snorted and returned the Tackle.
"All right! I lowered down its HP! Time to throw a Poke Ball!" Lucas shouted. He reached into his bag and pulled out a Poke Ball. He threw it with much force at the Bidoof, and I observed as the ball constantly twitched, then at one point, it lay still. Lucas smiled and picked up the ball, hand outstretched, showing it to me.
"And that's how it's done. Actually, I should have lowered the target's HP some more. Yup, the important thing is to lower the Pokemon's HP as much as possible. See, a healthy Pokemon isn't easy to catch."
I let my jaw drop. So beating up an animal is good? It's not considered animal abuse? But then again, I've beat up those Starly birds before, battling was apparently approved. Cool.
"Oh, yeah. They also get easier to catch if you make one of your Pokemon put them to sleep or such. Here, Nova. I'll give you five Poke Balls to get you started."
He shoved into my arms five Poke Balls. "If you have lots of Pokemon with you, you'll be able to travel farther."
How many was I allowed to carry with me? I only wanted my precious Pyro...! I liked his fire, his spirit. I didn't want that fire doused by others... Maybe I could get more of its type, and none other?
"That way, you'll have a better shot at meeting more Pokemon. See you around!" He smiled, then walked away.
I stared after him a bit, then began walking through the grass. Eventually, another one of those birds jumped up in front of me. Startled, I quickly on habit threw out Pyro's Poke Ball. With several Scratches, the Starly was down and almost out of HP. I was about to finish it off, but remembered two things. One was that kind of boring lesson on catching Pokemon, the second was Professor Rowan looming over me, staring me down, a message in his eyes telling me to catch Pokemon for his Pokedex.
I shivered, and then rustled into my bag, reached for a Poke Ball, and pitched it towards the Starly. With a few slow twitches, Starly had been caught. DEX 9000, or Dexxor, beeped and I pulled him out of my purse. His screen had lit up, showing a page on Starly. I raised my eyebrows. What a handy feature!
Dexxor beeped again. "Master Nova, would you like to give a nickname to the caught Starly?" It said in its robotic voice. I nodded, then realized Dexxor might not be able to see it, but, amazingly, it responded, "Alright, go ahead."
"Hm... Psaroni. Greek for starling, since you, Dexxor, said it was a Starling Pokemon. Like it?"
"Yes, Master Nova."
I smiled as Dexxor completed the task of renaming the Starly. But something was off. I didn't like this Starly. Not because that same species attacked us by the lake. Not because it's always been attacking me and Pyro.
No... I just didn't like it. There was something about Pyro's spirit, fiery, strong, hearty.
I only liked fire types. That was that.
As I blindly walked along, suddenly, some random boy jumped at me. "I am a Pokemon Trainer! You are a Pokemon Trainer! Our eyes meet, so battle we must!"
"Wait, what are you-"
Quickly, without a flaw, the boy threw out a Poke Ball. "Go, Starly!" He shouted.
The oh so familiar bird plunged out of the ball, carrying out his battle cry.
"Wait, I didn't ask for us to-"
"Send out your Pokemon, Trainer! I am Youngster Tristain, I officially challenge you to a Pokemon Battle!"
"Do you surrender, Trainer?"
"My gosh, stop calling me Trainer, my name is Nova, and no, I don't, battle we'll do, then. Jeez." I sent out Pyro, and shouted out, "Scratch!"
"Tackle!" Shouted the other Trainer.
I sighed as the Starly fainted. I had won! Pyro glowed with pride, and again I could feel it. He had gained yet another level! And... what's this? Pyro pounded the ground and let out an ember out of his mouth.
I instinctively knew. He had learned the new move, Ember!

I apologize for not working on this as much as I would have liked...
November 17, 2012
Yes! A new move! I couldn't wait to try it out... right? No. Not yet. My poor Pyro was panting heavily. He had been hurt terribly from the battle. I quickly pulled him into my Poke Ball, then tried to run back through the fields to that one building... what was it called? The Pokemon Center. That's right!
Suddenly, one of the Starlys burst out of the grass. Crap.
No freaking way was my Chimchar in a state to fight the goddamn bird! What should I do? Should I risk it? What if Pyro fainted? I was firm on never using any Pokemon besides fire-types... I was sure my Psaroni was not in any way a fire type. I didn't feel a special bond with it. No...
I picked up Pyro and patted him, and the wild Starly just stared at us, confused and itching to battle.
Like before, when I had learned about his move Scratch, he somehow transferred his thoughts into my head.
Human, human! Please let us Run to the Pokemon Center... I am hurting. The pain...!
Oh, damn. Am I that stupid? Of course! I could just run away! I wanted to laugh at my idiotic thinking. I quickly let Pyro back into his Poke Ball, and ran. "STARRRRRLY!" The bird cried angrily after us, but we got away safely...
I breathed a sigh of relief as we reached the Pokemon Center, and I could have the chance to heal Pyro. I hastuly handed over his Poke Ball to the nurse. The nurse beckoned at the other Poke Ball I had on my belt. The one with Psaroni. I shrugged and handed it over as well. She was the same person who helped me the first time. What the hell, did she work here twenty four hours a day? She welcomed me, took my Pokemon, and put both into the machine as I muttered bitterly,
"You were right, I did see you soon..."
Very soon, Pyro was healed, as well as Psaroni, though I had to admit I could care less what would happen to this bird, this vile starling that caused us so much trouble. What jerks, these Starlys.
I sighed. I hardly wanted to go back outside with the stupid fields and rows of cursed birds, flocking at me like I'm made of birdseed or something. But I had to, I guess. For my "grand adventure."
I began to head back out the door, when a glint caught my eye. A computer screen? Then I saw the gleaming blue and silver PC sitting in a corner. I had a small, designed for home use product that was just like this at home! What was it doing there, for the public to hack into? How careless of the people working in the Center...
I tiptoed up to the PC, but an old man pulled me aside, speaking, "Do you see that PC over there? That fancy blue one? If you've got Pokemon with you, it's free to use." He stopped and waddled away.
Free to use? Okay... free to use for what, exactly? The people in this world talk in riddles... Gosh, I want to punch people, left and right...
I relaxed my tense muscles and I casually walked to the PC, and booted it up by pressing a large power button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Immediately, the screen burst to colors, and I could see four options displayed.
> SOMEONE'S PC
The arrow was currently on SOMEONE'S PC. Oooh! So freaking descriptive! Someone! I wonder who that someone could be! Wow.
I clicked the mouse and a message popped up briefly.
The Pokemon Storage System has been accessed.
Wait, what? Pokemon Storage System?
As if the machine had read my thoughts, it transferred to another screen that had:
I scrolled the arrow down to Move Pokemon. Move?
The whole concept was indescribable.
There was a box on the screen, labeled BOX 1. There was a white, gloved hand as a cursor. I guided it to a button that said Party Pokemon. What did that mean? I clicked, and two familiar Pokemon showed up in a box. The box had six circles. In two of the circles was Pyro.
I clicked it, and chose an option out of the many that said Summary.
It told me everything. It told me its gender, its level, how many experience points it had and how many it needed to get to level 8, about how it was Bold nature, about how I met it on October 30th at Lake Verity in a regular Poke Ball at level 5. It told me about how Pyro was finicky and liked sour food. About his special 'Ability', Blaze, that powers up Fire-type moves in a pinch. And his moves. It turns out he had Scratch, which could be used 35 times, Leer, whatever that was, 30 times, and Ember, good for 25 times.
I switched over to Psaroni.
Female. Level 4. Rash nature. Met on November 7 at Route 202, at level 4. She was somewhat vain and liked dry food. Ability, Keen Eye, Preventing the Pokemon from losing accuracy, whatever the hell that meant. Two moves. Tackle worth 35 times and Growl, 40 times.
Holy Poke Balls!
This kind of technology was beyond me!
I shrugged and used the cursor to reach for Psaroni. Let's see if this worked...
I dragged the bird's picture into the box labeled BOX 1, and let go of the mouse, which made the cursor release Psaroni into the box...
Instantly, the Poke Ball at my belt disappeared (and thank goodness, my belt got quite lighter), and that was that. Somehow, Psaroni had been stored inside the Pokemon Storage System box.
Mysterious, but really convenient. Now I could enjoy Pyro, and only Pyro.
I sprinted outside, ready for any other trainers and wild birds...
Hot damn that's all I have for now, I would've written more but this has been quick... I just realized it's 2 AM and I have to go somewhere and wake up early -.-
Sorry about that
