Community Comic
This is Pokéfiction's first Community Comic. This will be just like any other comic on Pokéfiction, except for one difference. It won't be made by one member in particular. Each issue will be both written and illustrated by a different member. All you have to do is state in this thread that you would like to make an issue and you'll be added to the waiting list. We will notify you when it is your turn to make an issue. If you sign up, but later find you don't have time to make the issue, just tell us and we'll put you down to the bottom of the list.



Style
Only fourth generation sprites can be used for characters and only overworld sprites can be used for Pokémon. Custom sprites of these styles can be used. However, if you introduce a custom sprite, you must supply us with the sprite sheet. This will be displayed in the third post and everyone who makes an issue of the Community Comic will have access to these sprites. Similarly, you can edit the sprites. If Member A introduces a character, he owns the character only for his issue. If Member B wants the character to wear a hat in his issue, he is allowed to edit the sprite to make the character wear a hat. He does not need Member A's permission. Note that if you introduce a new kind of sprite, you are effectively donating it and giving up ownership of it. All sprites and backgrounds used can be found on the third post. The speech in the text boxes must be presented in this format:

Name of speaker: Arial black, bold, size 8.
The speech itself: Arial, bold, size 8.

The name of the speaker must be colour-coded depending on who is speaking. Once the first issue has been posted, it will be easier to see what the final result should look like. You must send the issue to w111j and Shiny, rather than simply posting it. If we approve, you may post the issue. If there is a problem, we will inform you so you can fix it. We will not be judging the quality of the issue. We will merely be ensuring that the right sprites are used, the right text style and so on. We just want the style to remain consistent, we will not be pedantically pointing out tiny imperfections.



Consistency
The plot has to remain consistent. For instance, if Member A make one of the characters mention that he's an orphan, Member B can't introduce the character's mother in the next issue. You can do anything you want with the plot as long as it makes sense and doesn't contradict another issue. You can introduce new characters, include shocking plot twists in your issue and even kill off existing characters. Just make sure there are no blatant plot holes. Similarly, if Member A introduces a character who happens an evil, selfish murderer, Member B can't make this character suddenly start making him act like a polite, moral saint in the next issue without any explanation. That's not to say Member B can't explain that the so-called murderer was innocent the whole time. As long as it flows from one issue to the next, it's fine. This is a flexible rule as explained in the next paragraph.

While everything has to remain consistent, you are in charge of your issue and only your issue. If Member A introduces a character who is meant to be the evil and selfish but doesn't make him do anything to suggest that he's not a saint, Member B is allowed to make him a saint in the next issue. If Member A ends the issue with a cliffhanger, making a character announce that he has a terrible secret in the last panel, then it is up to Member B to make the character announce what this secret is. Member A can't decide what the secret is if the explanation isn't in his issue. What he can do, however, is send a PM to Member B and make a suggestion about what this secret is. It is up to Member B whether or not Member A's suggestion is actually put to use. No one member owns the plot or any of the characters.

You are free to use whichever writing style you want in your issue. For example, Member A might make his issue dark and plot-driven. This does not mean that Member B can't make his issue funny and light-hearted. It's this mix of writing styles that makes this comic different. One last rule is that the comic must be uploaded on Tinypic.com as the template is quite large and sites such as Photobucket tend to resize large images.



Deadlines
When it's your turn to make an issue, you will have an initial deadline of two weeks. After two weeks, if you haven't either finished the issue or assured us that you haven't forgotten about it, the task will pass on to whoever is next on the list. To repeat, you do not have to finish the issue within the two weeks. We just want to know that you haven't disappeared off the face of the earth. That way, the comic won't die just because one member signed up and changed his mind without telling anyone. You are allowed to back out if you want, just make sure we know.

It means the font used for the speaker's name is Arial Black, a font type which is like Arial but slightly bolder. But you're right that the speaker's name is colour-coded and the speech is in black.

We started discussing this idea in August but we never got around to doing it. It was a relief to finally post the thread.

Oh, when will this start?

This wasn't designed to be be most gripping comic in the forum. Sure, the plot will probably be twisting in all kinds of directions, but the point of the comic isn't to have a well thought-out story that's praised by everyone who reads it. It's about having a bit of fun. Establishing a general premise and seeing where it ends up.

To answer your question, Vast, this will start as soon as the first issue is made by either myself or w111j. The template is done and the premise has been decided upon, so all we have left to do is make the issue itself. After the first issue I'll probably put the names of everyone who signed up in a random order and we'll go from there.
