The Syrix Series

Alright everybody, I've decided to attempt to write a series of stories called the "Syrix Series." It's about a young Pikachu named Syrix, who has big aspirations to go on a great adventure like the heroes in the stories he loves to read. He lives in the city of Korak, during the middle ages, hence the castles and whatnot. Join him in his adventures of the old world and of evil entities in The Syrix Series!







Note: As the story progresses, I'll add more information to everything. I'll try and add another chapter every few days if it's a success.

Chapter Three - The Only Way In?

It was dusk now. The orange sun was starting to sink behind the castle walls. The main street of Korak was still busy with pokemon closing up shops and heading home for the night. Syrix was walking down the street until he heard a familiar voice shout, "Hey! Over here!"

Syrix turned to see Luks standing at the entrance to an alleyway. He proceeded to where his caller stood.

"So, you ready for your first adventure?" Luks asked.
"Yes," Syrix replied.
"Alrighty then. It's just this way..." Luks started to walk down the darkening ally.
"What's this way?" Syrix asked, but Luks kept walking.


The two pokemon walked a few blocks down the alley. They stopped when they reached a big, iron door.

"Here we are," Luks said, admiring the door.
"What is this?"
"It's your way in."
"How exactly will this door get me into the castle?"
"It's a secret entrance to the underground passageways."
"Okay, then how do we open it?"
"From what I've heard, it requires a strong electric shock to unlock it," said Luks as he tapped the door softly. "You think you could muster up enough energy for a Thunderbolt?"
"It that's what it'll take," Syrix replied, charging up energy.


There was a bright flash of yellow and orange light as Syrix focused the electrical blast towards the iron door. For a moment, it was silent. Suddenly, the latches opened, the locks turned, the tumblers shifted, the bearings rolled, and the door slowly swung open with a "creek."

"And there...we go..." Syrix panting, looking into the darkness beyond the door.
"Nice job," Luks congratulated, walking closer to the tired Pikachu.
"Ready to go in?"
"Actually, I think I'll stay here," the Shroomish said, positioning himself behind Syrix. "I'll stand watch."
"Oh, okay then. I guess I'll be going now."
"One thing before you leave," the Shroomish said slyly.
"What's that?"
"Good luck!" Luks shouted as he shoved Syrix into the doorway.
"Wait! What!?" the surprised pokemon yelled as he fell through. Her quickly got up, but the door had already slammed shut and locked.

Chapter Five - Welcome to Korak Castle?

Syrix started walking down the long, stone hallway. At the end opposite that of the door to the sewer, the hallway split. One path to the right; the other to the left. Stopping to decide which hall to take, Syrix heard voices in the left hallway. They were getting closer. Instinctively, he dashed down the hall to the right before the source of the voices reached the split where he previously stood.

Running down the hall, Syrix passed multiple doors on alternating sides of him. The hallway ended with stairs ascending upwards to the next floor. Again, he heard voices, but these were coming down the staircase. Panicking, he bolted into the nearest room to hide.

"Can you believe we're on guard duty?" one voice hissed.
"You should know by now that this always happens," said another.
"Why does the bossss make usss do extra roundsss?" the first hissed again.
"He gets paranoid whenever something big is gonna go down."


"Something big?" Syrix thought to himself. "What's going on?"


As the two voices continued down the hall, Syrix emerged from his hiding place. He then slowly climbed up the stairs, listening for any other person who might be close. It was clear. At the top of the stairs was another door. As he was opening it, he asked himself, "Where am I? What's going on?"


Syrix was now in a large room. In the center of the room, there was a large, wooden table with ten or so chairs positioned around it. There were also some crates in the corner. On the opposite wall, there was a door.

Still inspecting the room, Syrix jumped when an intercom beeped.

"Attention everyone! Report to the meeting room for the final mission briefing!"


Sensing that the large room was the meeting room, Syrix instantly dove for the crates in the corner as the announcement echoed down the stone halls. The room was quiet...

Suddenly, both doors flew open. The room started to fill with chatter as pokemon began coming in and sitting down. Syrix positioned himself so that he could see the majority of the table, but no one could directly see him. The pokemon hushed as both doors closed. Syrix watched as a large, black bird sat down at the head of the table.


"Welcome friends!" he said courteously, but sternly. "Welcome to the meeting of the Darkheart Organization!"

Chapter Six - A Little Bird Told Me...

"Welcome to the meeting of the Darkheart Organization!" the Honchkrow said calmly.


Syrix tried to settle down, stay quiet, and listen intently.

"Before we begin," the bird continued, "I'd like you all to meet Acro," he said politely, pointing to a Houndour sitting near him. "He's Auroc's, the leader of the Darkhearts in the desert realm, son. Although this will be his first mission, I have big expectations from him."


The crowd of members cheered and welcomed the young member.

A Seviper sitting near the Honchkrow hissed, "Bossss, are you sure he'sss ready for sssomething thisss big?"
The bird ignored him. "Moving on to business," he said, clearing his throat. "As you all know, King Darrus is hosting a party tomorrow night. We have decided that this would be the perfect time to carry out our long awaited plans." His tone suddenly became dark when he said, "We will raid the castle and take the throne."


Syrix gasped at the last statement, but the crowd just snickered and cheered. He wanted to get out of the situation as quick as he could, but he was determined to wait and listen for more information.

Boss went on to say, "Here's the plan: First, we will split up into groups. Two groups will enter through the main gate, another will enter through the towers. I imagine that security will be tight, but our assassin should be able to slip past fairly easily, right Geigry?"
"Sure thing, Boss," a Toxicroak responded, admiring his poisonous claws.
"Fantastic," Boss replied. "Next, inside, one group will stay in the castle square, and the other two will raid the castle rooms. On my command, the group in the square will serve as a distraction, to make the others move around easier. During the panic outside, Hrey will loot the treasure room," he said, pointing to a Gastly.
"I'll take as much as I can carry," the ghost replied with a creepy grin.
"During all this, the King will be taken to a room, to be safe from the fiasco. Geigry, you must do it then. Stay close behind the Darrus at all times. Acro will go down to the dungeons and release the other Darkheart members that have been captured and imprisoned," he paused. "And then that leaves me. I will go to the throne room to take the throne."


The group of renegades cheered at Boss's words. Syrix was trying to restrain himself from sobbing.

The Honchkrow then said, "There are somethings we must keep in mind, however."


The crowd grew silent again.

"Because of our small numbers, we must remain vigilant and alert at all times. We can not fail. Although it is dangerous, we must realize that this is only a small step in the master plan."


"To resurrect Darkness!" the group shouted in unison.


Boss went on to say, "Thank you everyone. Now, get some rest. We strike tomorrow at midnight."


With the final words said, the crowd dispersed to their rooms downstairs. Terrified, Syrix ran out the other door. It led into a small shop. He dashed around the counter and out the door. Even in the dead of night, he didn't stop running until he reached Orl's house.
