Chapter 1: Agility.

She shook off the water that soaked her into a scentless fur ball, and sat down to start drying again. Her ears pricked up and down, being alert to any form of noise. She soon spotted she was drying one more tail. She didn't realise the pain in her tail was from it splitting, she thought the bang had done it, or the pokemon. She licked it carefully, disinfecting the place where fur was already beginning to grow. A sound of her kind made her jump and run to the bush closest to her. Though the thorns stuck into her, she stayed in there, it was either that or be smothered. She looked in envy at her siblings, playing as they walked. They were all the same, 3 tails and orange fur. She looked down at herself and realised why she was the runt, she looked frail being a sickly colour. Though she felt fine. She was just smaller than her family. Her mother walked past, sticking up her collection of tails in the air proudly. She stopped walking and sniffed the air, leaning towards Fena's whereabouts. Fena froze, unsure of what to do, she stepped backwards and a trio of Wingull flapped away in shock. Her mother jumped at their appearance, then continued to walk. Fena stuck her head out and sighed with relief, pawing her way out and shaking once more to relieve her skin of thorns. She sniffed hungrily and realised that there was berries surrounding the bush she had hidden in. She greedily yanked some down and ate them quickly, filling her stomach to satisfactory. She sighed and looked around all directions, to check she was safe still, then walked aimlessly in search for a home, or shelter, for she wasn't to stay in one spot for too long. For she knew she was being tracked...

Btw. I haven't said what Fena is, but you can guess by her distinctive feature, and her name can also give you a clue.

Chapter 2: Meeting.

She rose up out of the thicket which a pokemon seemed to have abandoned, she sniffed the air carefully, choosing her path out carefully. Once her and her four tails were in the open, she smiled and trotted towards the water hole she had used for hiding. She slurped through healthy sips and felt her throat cool intensely. She played with the ripples childishly, trying to catch them, but ended up getting wet instead. She lifted her head out of the water, but stayed in there as it was cooling her continuously hot body. Once the ripples had moved further away, she caught a glimpse of herself, tilting her head to one side. She had a long nose and fairly large ears which pointed straight up, with a tuft of hair between them which curled cutely. She lifted her paw up and pressed down the tuft, but it sprang back into place, so she continued to do it playfully. She spotted a Yanma fluttering close to her and she leapt after it, barking cutely as it fluttered up high out of the way. She looked around quickly, realising there was no other pokemon to be seen. Being so young, she was naturally observant, and there usually was lots of bug pokemon around. She shrugged it off and lifted one paw in the air, letting it drop and splash delicately, she then lifted it to the surface and pressed rapidly to make several ripples spread out or bump into her body. She smiled as she had an idea, she lifted on paw up and splashed again, running away from it trying not to get caught. Once at the other side of the pool, she splashed again.
"Whatcha dooin'?" She suddenly spluttered as she came to a halt, she looked around frantically for the owner of a voice. She turned around and there was no one, and back around. No one. She was suddenly jumped on from behind, as if they were hiding there the whole time. She landed underneath and booted her back legs, throwing him off. She rolled up quickly, flicking her tails angrily and baring her teeth. The pokemon in front of her wiggled his tail in delight, before pounding forward, splashing everywhere. His laugh seemed friendly, and so Fena took down her guard, but sat and watched him carefully instead.
"Why aren't you playing?" He emphasized the 'g' at the end, and Fena looked around, wondering if he was talking to her. She shook her head suddenly, and wondered over to the edge.
"Gotcha!" The pokemon pounced on her, and they rolled down to the other end of the waters, he was giggling loudly, but Fena kicked him off again.
"Alright alright! You win!" She sat up, wondering what he meant. "Haven't you ever played with someone!?"
She shook her head, and he did too; "You've never spoke before either. Can you speak?"
"Yes of course I can." She snapped, and the pokemon barked with excitement, wagging his tail quickly.
"So what's your name!? I'm Fervor!" He giggled, she looked down and mumbled her name. He pounced over and barked; "Speak up!"
"Fena!" She yelled, then pushed him on his back. She pinned him down in the shallow part of the pool, so his face was still out of water. "That's a nice name."
She smiled; "Thanks, I got it yesterday."
"So where are your family?" Fervor sat up, pushing her off with ease. She looked back at her reflection; "I don't have one." He looked at it too, "oh... Well maybe you can share my family!" He nodded happily, and Fena looked up, "really?"
"Yeah! My Mummy is lovely!" He laughed, then splashed her quickly and ran out on the opposite side of the pool. She sprang up happily, and leapt out too, sprinting after him. He started to run too, and they played the whole way to his home.

Chapter 3: Bravery.

Fevor didn't look like her, or her siblings. He was a similar shape to her, but he was dark and had white marks on his face and back. He also only had one tail, so she summarized that he was from a different species to her. It didn't bother her, as he had warm fur too, so she saw him as the same. He bounded up to a pokemon that was similar to him, but had skinnier features and more prominent ears. Horns, to be exact. Fevor chatted to his mother quickly, then ran over to Fena, pulling her out of the bushes, she shyly stepped ou and wagged her tails. The Mother stood up quickly and howled. Fena immediately dropped to the floor, cowering, the mother pounced on her.
"Don't you ever talk to this vermin again, Fevor. You hear me? This is a Vulpix, scum." She breathed hot breath over Fena, but Fena growled to make her back off. She rolled onto her stomach and stood up, baring her teeth as a warning. She wasn't sure why, but her instincts told her to do so. The mother looked weak, but it ran up to her and try to smack into Fena, but Fena smacked back. The Mother fell to the ground, and Fevor ran up to her. He growled fiercefully and hiccuped a harsh fire towards her, Fena jumped out of the way but it still hit her. It wasn't hurting, but she couldn't do the same. She ran at Fevor, and their heads clashed in a force that sent them both back again. Only Fena managing to stand again. She wasn't sure where she was getting the energy from, but resorted to believing the berries were good for her. An ear splitting band made her jump again, a small seed-like object smashed the ground to pieces in front of her. She reared up and turned to run, but Fevor was there again.
"That's it boy. Grab it!" The weird species shouted, but she jumped on Fevor's head, leaping over him and running as fast as her legs could carry her. The pain came back again in her tail, it must have been the bang this time. She found a spot far away from Fevor, and sat down to start licking her tails again, realising now she had five. She also realised that she was gaining her tails at the most important times in her very short life. When she learnt to run, and when she was brave. Each a key to her tails, to become a Ninetails.

I see. Fervor, a Houndour. Fervor's mother is a Houndoom. Keep up the great work, Boo!

Chapter 4: Bringing fire up.

She found a spot to rest her head, waking up every certain period of time to check the coast was clear. A couple of times she had to growl for safety, but realised that it was only a small Caterpie or something close to that species. Green sunlight peeped through tiny windows between the leaves, a whiff of pollen tickled her nose as she yawned herself awake. Day three... She sighed to herself, heaving herself to her feet. She reached up to the top branches on her back legs for the juicier berries that wingless Pokemon couldn't reach. She sat down comfortably to munch on the less appetizing food. It wasn't satisfying her now, she had grown too much in the past days.
A sudden rush a pain smashed into her tail. She wondered what she was doing to make a new tail grow, but the pain continued. She looked to her tails and she still had five, but it was being attacked by continuous seeds that bounced off quickly. She leapt out of the bush to see what was attacking, and a species the same as Fevor's friend stood there next to what seemed to be a grass type, with leaves extending out of it's elbows and the back of it's head.
"Score! A Vulpix!" It shouted, and the pokemon cheered too. "Leaf blade!"
She was right with her assumption, it was a grass type. She leapt out of the way quickly and tackled it like she did with Fevor. It landed on it's feet and shot bullet seeds at her. She jumped, but he followed with the attack and she landed on the floor with a thud. Her stomach churned, but she stood back up, growling to knock it's guard down. It charged up it's elbows into a leaf blade again, and pushed off the ground. She dodged both elbows, but it smacked her with it's head leaf. She felt sick now, she pulled herself up once more and glared at the pokemon. It charged up once more under the command of the weird complicated species. It pushed off the ground as it did before, and Fena brought up what she thought would be berries, but scared her as she produced flames. The pokemon was scared too as it was blasted backwards. It stood back up weakly, looking to the other creature for orders, the smirk wiped off it's face. A set of seed fired at her and she let her fire loose again, smashing through it with ease. It dodged and set off to tackle her, she smacked into him too and they both flew away from each other. She landed in the bush, managing to stand a few moments longer as the creature vanished instantly, the other one running off. The pain in her tails made her unable to stay awake, she fell in exhaustion.
