GTA Social Forum Interviews |
|
Hey guys, welcome to the first of many Social Forum interviews. These are here to give you a little bit more insight into the members that you know on Neo. I was quite amazed, puzzled and grateful to be the first person chosen to be interviewed. Although I doubt I would have been first if a certain co-mod of mine had signed up as well
Anyway, it is a great burden on my shoulders and one which I do not take lightly. I must set the precedent and try not to sound too boring. I have probably failed on that last one though lol. Feel free to post comments or questions in this thread afterwards. So without further ado, enjoy... Interviewee - Steel Magnolia Interviewer - MNMFan Steel says: Fire away Magnus MNMFan says: Ok. I've got some questions about your personal life, some about Neo and then a few general questions. Steel says: Sounds good. MNMFan says: Question 1: To those that don't know, how old are you? Steel says: Those that don't know that should be wearing velcro shoes and shouldn't be allowed out in public without a crash helmet on, because it's in my profile. But for those among us that don't know, I am 26 years of age. MNMFan says: Lol. Not everyone can be bothered to check profiles. MNMFan says: Question 2: We don't really hear much about your love life. Are you single, in a relationship, married, divorced, widowed? Steel says: I am currently single but I am deeply in love with Deis. She knows this but doesn't care. I am just a plaything to her Seriously I rarely talk about that side of my life because I like to keep some stuff private. But mostly because no one really asks me about it. I am usually too busy sorting out reported threads and the like to chat about myself in that way. MNMFan says: Question 3: Who do you live with? Parents, wife? Steel says: I live with my parents. It's easy and it's cheap. I can't afford to move out since I took a major pay cut with my apprenticeship. But in a couple of years I would like to move out on my own. The prices of places around here are terrible though, so it might take longer than I think. MNMFan says: Question 4: Any brothers/ sisters? Steel says: No, I'm an only child. It's a gift and a curse if I'm honest. You get to have all of the presents at Christmas but the loneliness has no doubt contributed to my insanity. MNMFan says: I never knew that but for some reason I presumed you were an only child. Anyway... MNMFan says: Question 5: What's the longest relationship you have had? Steel says: Probably the one I've had with Miss Stella Artois. That has been going on for 10 years now and I have never cheated on her...well except for that time with the Fosters, but that's another story lol. No seriously, about 8-9 months. I'm not that lucky with relationships unfortunately. MNMFan says: Question 6: Descibe yourself in 3 words Steel says: Pretty much my Custom Title on Neo I guess. Loveable, Satanic, Atheist MNMFan says: Question 7: What do you do in your free time, away from Neo? Steel says: I obviously play video games a lot. I have loved gaming since like forever. I like to go to house parties and drink with friends. I'm not really into the whole going out on the town thing anymore. My favourite hobby though is going to metal gigs, I love them and I've been to loads in my time. Best night out you can get haha. MNMFan says: Queston 8: A combination of which celebs would make your perfect woman? Steel says: I take it you mean looks wise right? That's a tough one, probably any part of Anna Kournikova would be great. I prefer brunettes but for her I would make an exception. I'll say Anna, Cheryl Cole and Mylene Klass. Anything along those lines is what interests me. MNMFan says: Yeah it's a hard one. I would be stumped on that one too. MNMFan says: Question 9: Do you drive? If so, what car? Steel says: Yes I do drive. I have been driving for around 8 years now. I drive a Peugeot 406 coupe. It's the car I wanted since it first came out, I love it. I would be lost without a car since I drive 300 miles a week just to get to work and back. MNMFan says: Question 10. We know you're into Metal so who's your favourite band/group/artist? Steel says: Definitely Ozzy Osbourne overall. He is such a legend and is rightly known as the Godfather of Heavy Metal. I have followed him for years now. Not literally of course, not after the last time lol. But if I had to choose a favourite band of the moment it would be Fear Factory. I'm not expecting you to know who they are but I love them. I have seen them 8 times and they pretty much blow everyone else out of the water. MNMFan says: Question 11. Are you musical in any way? Play any instruments? Steel says: Not really, no. I did used to play the violin when I was about 9 or 10 but soon gave that up when puberty hit and it got to be "uncool". I do own an electric guitar but I have no idea how to play it. I would like to learn one day, but it makes a great clothes horse MNMFan says: Question 12. What's your favourite film? Steel says: That's really difficult, I don't have a definite favourite. But my favourite style of films are action and horror. I have a few previously banned horror films from the 70's which I love. Then some modern day gore classics such as Ichi The Killer etc. I can tolerate most genres to be honest. Hell I even love Thelma And Louise, I bet you didn't see that one coming? MNMFan says: Question 13. What's your favourite TV show, could it be Miami Ink? Steel says: Haha, good guess but no. I watch that show occasionally but it seems so fake. Every person who goes in there has some sad story to tell. In the real world most people get a tattoo because it looks cool, end of story. My favourite program is QI. I love Stephen Fry and I swear I have learned more stuff from that show than I ever did at school. Intelligence is a major turn on for me and when Stephen speaks Latin, I get all warm inside MNMFan says: Question 14. About your Tattoos, how many do you have exactly and what's the biggest and most expensive tattoo on your body? Steel says: I only have 8 at the moment, which is a lot to some people but not to me. My biggest one is on my back. It's a 15" red, inverted pentagram. It cost me around £250 with mates rates. It pretty much books my reservation in hell if there is such a place haha. MNMFan says: Question 15. Do you plan on getting any more tattoos or is there no more room left on your body? Steel says: Oh no, there is plenty of room left. I have had a rough idea where I want them on my body for years. Eventually I am going to get both my arms covered, some old English writing on my stomach in an arc and bits and bobs on my back. I have one side of my right calf to do as well. I think that's about it. MNMFan says: Question 16. We know you have piercings but how many do you have? Steel says: Probably not as many as people think really. I have my ears pierced 4 times and I have had my eyebrows pierced 8 times. My parents will literally throw me out, even at my age, if I came home with a lip ring, which is what I want. Eyebrows have always been my favourite though, but they never heal properly with me. MNMFan says: Question 17. Which piercing was the most painful? Steel says: Definitely the eyebrow over the ear. But neither were terrible to be honest. MNMFan says: Question 18. Do you bite your toenails? Steel says: What do you think I am, a Chinese gymnast? Hell no, I couldn't bite them if I tried haha. MNMFan says: Question 19. What do you do for a living? Steel says: I am currently doing an engineering apprenticeship. I'm in the 3rd year of 4. It's mechanical engineering, so that basically means when I'm not in the drawing office, I am running lathes, mills, drills and grinders etc. All good fun MNMFan says: Question 20: Anything you'd like to tell us about yourself that I haven't asked you? Steel says: Well I'm Welsh, just in case anyone didn't know. Pretty proud of it despite the mocking. But you'd probably feel the same being Irish, no doubt. That's about it for this one I think... MNMFan says: Cool. On to the Neo related Questions... Steel says: Fire away MNMFan says: Question 1. Do you and Chiro really get on as well behind the scenes or is it all just a front? Steel says: Haha, is it really that obvious? I hate the guy really. God damn Yank telling people what to do, makes my blood boil. Nah, seriously, Chiro is awesome. He has probably given me more modding advice than anyone else on the site and he is a great mod himself. Definitely deserves the respect he gets. MNMFan says: I didn't really expect any other answer, but I had to ask. Steel says: What can I say? lol MNMFan says: Question 2. Any plans on leaving Neo? How long do you think you will be active on Neo? Steel says: Funny you should say that. In recent months my loyalty to Neo was severely tested and I was close to cutting my ties. But once again Chiro came to the rescue and we had a long chat. He made me see things differently and I am happier now than I have been in a long time. So no, no plans to leave yet. MNMFan says: Question 3. We've all noticed the flirting between you and Deis. Is it serious or just a bit of fun? When are you guys getting engaged? Steel says: Haha, I thought that might come up. It's all in fun, but that's not to say that I don't find her attractive, I mean who wouldn't? Oh and 24th October 2012, don't worry, you're invited MNMFan says: Question 4. Which member do you communicate most with outside of Neo? Steel says: I would have to say Deis, as she is pretty much the only member I communicate with outside of Neo. I have played with a couple of people on Xbox Live but she's the only constant. MNMFan says: Question 5. What's your view on the Social Forum community? Steel says: How long have you got? As a whole the community is great. It's small enough to be much more close knit than Loungin' and I think it has the potential to be really fun. However you always get some bad elements. I don't just mean members but I mean everything, including members effect on others too. It's complicated but overall I love the community. Chiro and I do our best. MNMFan says: Question 6. How did you decide upon choosing Steel Magnolia as your screen name? Any reason behind it? Steel says: A lot of people think it's from the chick flick Steel Magnolias, but it's not. It's actually the name of a Cypress Hill song. I was looking around my room trying to think up a cool name and it was the first thing I saw. It has stuck ever since. MNMFan says: Question 7. Anything you'd like to tell us about yourself on Neo that I haven't ask you? Steel says: Only that it never ceases to amaze me how many great people you can meet on a gaming site and also how many idiots there are in the world. MNMFan says: Well said. Okay onto the General Questions: MNMFan says: Question 1. Boxers, Briefs, Commando or Other? Steel says: Boxers baby. I gave up on the Y fronts in primary school and womens underwear can be quite uncomfortable. Only gone commando when going to the shops for beer. Didn't think it mattered much and the breeze going up my leg was mildly arousing. MNMFan says: LOL. MNMFan says: Question 2. PS3, 360 or Wii? Steel says: Well I have never played a Wii, so that rules that out. I do own a 360 and a PS3, so I'm not biased. I would say the 360. It has more games for it, Live is better, achievements are for every game, I prefer the controller and I have a lot more friends with one. That sounds one sided but believe me the PS3 is slowly catching up. MNMFan says: Question 3. A night in with a good film and a few cans of beer or a night out? Steel says: Depends where the night out is. But if it's just to the town pubs, much rather be indoors. Only concerts tend to tempt me out of my alcohol den. MNMFan says: Question 4. Sex, football, beer or computer games? Steel says: 1. Sex 2. Beer 3. Games 998. Football. I would rather be raped by a rabid lemur than play football. I can't stand it but yet strangely I still get pissed off when the Americans call it soccer MNMFan says: Wow, for some reason I always thought you were a footy fanatic? MNMFan says: Quesation 5. Tall, blonde bimbo or a brunette librarian? Steel says: Brunette Librarian without question. I don't particularly like blondes as a rule and intelligence is a major turn-on. Plus there are lots of places to sneak off to in a library MNMFan says: Question 6. Looks or personality? Steel says: I would have to say both. You notice someone first because of their looks but you stay with them because of their personality. But if you are going to make me decide, I'll go with personality. I can't stand a good looking bitch. MNMFan says: Question 7. Tea or Coffee? Steel says: I have never drunk either in my life. I am the fussiest eater you will ever come across. We could do a whole interview just on the foods I have never tasted. Seriously I am weird in so many ways. MNMFan says: Question 8. Would you enter the Big Brother House? Steel says: I would love to but no. There are too many things in my life I have done that I wouldn't want coming out on national TV. The whole time I would be in there I would be worrying about what the papers were saying. I'm pretty paranoid in general. Would be a great experience though. MNMFan says: Okay well that's all the questions I have. Anyone you want to shout out to before we wrap this up? Steel says: I have to send a big shout out (Jesus, I sound like Westwood) to Deis or she'll kill me. I'd also like to thank my mum, MNMFan for posing the questions and Ozzy Osbourne for just generally being so *bleep*ing cool. Peace x [size=1][color=#666666]This message was edited by Steel Magnolia on Oct 30 2008.

Much better than the usual Loungin' fodder. We found out a lot about you Steel, so it was good. An interesting read overall.
I really thought you got your name from that movie though. When I saw it in Woolworths the other day I couldn't help but think of you. Good to see a metal fan amongst the ranks too. Have you been to see A7x live? That was a great night. ------------------- gone

Thanks a lot. I really thought I'd be boring as hell. I don't really listen to A7X although I have a friend who idolises them. I would go and see them if he wanted to.

Great interview, I learned a lot about you that I didn't know before; not to mention it's a hell of a lot better than some of the more recent Loungin' interviews.

Pretty good interview.
What I found most interesting is that you still live with your parents. Not that it's a bad thing. But If I'm 26 I'd get annoyed of them eventually since mine would keep asking me questions If I came home late or done stuff like that. I always imagined you to live alone. ------------------- ![]()

It's not too bad. They don't really have a say in anything I do. I don't have to get permission or anything like that haha. I just can't afford to move out yet.

Good interview. Questions were good, maybe needed to flow a little bit better but still very good.

Some questions were added a bit later and I had to edit them in. That's not MNM's fault, that's just how it happened.
