	Are you refering to Oled TVs? Because they don't have a backlight. They don't need one. The leds each provide their own light. That's why they are so thin. As for motion blur, couldn't say. 	Ah, forgot those were even coming out. Yea, it is the backlight on those. Rather than using a single bulb like traditional LCDs they use LEDs to light the display. It will have all the traditional problems of standard LCDs. 	how long you reckon it takes to burn a bulb on a regular one?These tvs look nice but they are alot of money.See the prices!

	Typical LCD under normal use it supposed to last about 6 years or more on the original bulb. And I think it is about $30.00 for the bulb if you do the replacement yourself. They also offer LED replacments but they cost a good deal more. But they shouldn't burn out either. 	6 years is not long enough for me! So thats whats good about LED,not having to replace the bulb.Eventually these will come down,its never worth getting anything right when it comes out.The money you save can buy you alot of toys.

	Anyone know what happens if you loose some of the new lights in the OLEDs? Will it behave similarly to losing pixels in laptops, where areas of the screen become dark, and lose clarity? Or do surrounding lights provide enough to make the problem negligible. Just curious if somehting like this could be a problem. At least with an LCD you would have a good picture until the light goes, and then you could simply replace one component to restore the tv. My LCD had an estimated lifetime on the backlight of 150,000 hours, which is about 17 years. I will likely be replacing the TV then anyways.

	I imagine if it was just one, you probably wouldn't even notice, but if a whole section of them went out, it would probably look like a dark patch, yeah. Depending on your brightness settings, it may only be a near invisible problem, or a glaringly obvious dark spot. Lol, do you think it is geeky that I guessed both of the TVs? That is to say, Krunal's guess, and when the poster said 'no, no that', I figured it'd have to be the LED one? I like HDTVs is all >_> Yeah, LED lights would last ages. 	All of these technologies have some kind of flaw. I heard that the LED screens use some kind of organic sheet (vegans can't buy them) and these organic sheets break-down overtime and it degrades the picture. That's one source, though. 	That's OLED Northern. LED TVs are standard LCD displays that use LED backlights rather than the older Cold Cathode Flourecent Lamps (CCFL). It isn't a new technology at all really. 	Don't fall for the commercials, Alex. As Koloth pointed out, the LEDs being advertised commercially right now are nothing more than a change in the backlight to make the TV lighter, thinner, and last a bit longer. However, there's really little difference in the clarity, except that they probably make them better quality overall because they cost more. ------------------- Gogogogo
