Is There Much Difference Between HD Ready and Full HD?

In the most basic definition, the difference between Full HD and HD Ready is that HD Ready does not have a tuner. Which means that it needs an HD signal in order to produce an HD image. If you have a cable box that puts out an HD signal (or satellite) and a current generation console, then it will send out an HD signal.

If you are going to mostly use it for gaming, 720p may suit you better. No game or TV station supports 1080p and the only real use for 1080p at this point is for Blu-Ray.

I was sorta wrong. Some games support 1080p but not a lot.

Upscales, basically.

I'm not too sure. I wouldn't worry, though. If you use your PS3 for movie viewing, then it will upscale for you.


In the end, I'd go with the one that supports 1080p. Since you have a PS3, you'll want that for Blu-Ray and for games. Plus, when considering future endeavors, 1080p will start to become more popular and used.

Hm, I think I may as well get a 720P. I mean we already have a 1080 downstairs and we're getting another blu-ray disc player for downstairs soon anyways.

You wont notice the difference between 720p and 1080p unless you actually go up and stare at the screen lol.

And you don't really notice it when your engrossed in a game or watching a film anyway.

For the pixel density you won't really notice the benefit of 1080p at 32" most games upscale via software or hardware to 1080 anyway.

2k video is already out if you have the money, you don't need to wait until 2015 or whatever they're pitching as the future. They've been shooting 4x2 for quite a few years and projecting it no problem in home setups.

Yea, huge IF as in a screen at that resolution would cost 10s of thousands of dollars. 2015 is the projection for making 2160p economically viable. I'm in no rush to take out a loan on my TV.

Much like HVD or OLED is a workable technology right now. But it isn't economically viable because an HVD player would cost 10s of thousands. OLED is just starting to become economically viable, with small screens costing almost a grand.
