I'm just gonna rent it. Doesn't seem worth spending 60 bucks on this game especially with MGS4 coming out tomorrow.

re: The "I got it!" thread

Hey guys (and maybe gals),

I am in america.....and I got the game yesterday.....came with a nifty blu ray movie (Dead Zone) and a sweet Tshirt....to bad its a large and my 6'1 250 lb ass cant squeeze into it...haha.....anyway played the game last night for about 6 hours finished the saiyen saga....and played online against some blokes in the UK and in japan......So I will start off by saying this is not like TENKAICHI(thank god)....haha.....It is a return to the Budokai style.....the gameplay is tight and its really a great mix of button mashing and skill/timing......I really am digging the drama pieces that replaced the capsules.....and I like the fact that you can pick what character is your partner and they use the drama piece.....thats cool....The story mode has some good cinematics but it is almost like a better looking version of the cutscenes in tenkaichi, where 2 players just stand in the level and spit a few lines at eachother from what happened in the anime.....I have yet to see a really good cinematic scene yet im thinking the frieza fight will be one that is good. The online is awesome when I didnt get lag.....I have cable internet and when I played a japanese player the lag was god awful....when I played a UK player it was laggy but still somewhat fun....and when I played a U.S. player it was ok I think a bit laggy still but maybe not.....anyway the fact that you can pick your ultimate and drama pieces for the online fights really makes the game fun.....If you liked budokai you need to pick this up because you will like it......Id give it a 7.5 overall, but that is just because of the content, Small amount of characters and levels. As far as fun I would give it a 9. Fans of DBZ will like it......It is actually a legit fighter now.....IMO....on par with tekken or whatever. See you Online with my pimped out recoome!!!!!

re: The "I got it!" thread

I got the game... and am currently awaiting my refund after sending it back. It's a good game, true, but lacks replay value in a major way. Firstly, the Z-Chronicles. Now, I'm not a major fan of DBZ (watched a fair amount of the anime (not every episode, but when I was a kid I watched what I could of it), played the old PS2 games of it with my cousins and have made many a joke involving the phrases power level, scouter and OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!) but even as a minor fan, I was really disappointed at how it only went as far as the Cell Saga (with the Bardock and Broly specials, of course). This means that not only is the game missing some of the most awesome-to-play characters/power-ups from the old games (the Gogeta/Vegeto fusions, SS4 (or was it SS5) Goku and Vegeta, not to mention the Buu's) but it also means the story mode is rather short, not counting the endlessly repetitive task of getting Z on every difficulty (I got a full Z on each of the normals and got bored, TBH). Now, online play. The majority of people are fools on the ranking who spam ki and ultimate attacks and then, after their cheesy shit routines are dodged and when they're at the brink of KO they disconnect. Rarely, you'll find someone who is a good player who doesn't use the same move over and over again even though 9 times out of 10 you dodge it and counter, but after a few matches you both want new opponents and then it's back to sieving through the sewer of shit-heads who just want to try and be high in the rankings by using crappy techniques that barely work. Don't get me wrong, at the start it was funny to kick their asses after they used their smug, no-brain ki blast followed by ultimate attack with Vegeta routine, but eventually it got boring. Now, characters. 21 isn't much in this game. Virtua Fighter 5 has 17, and I love that game, but here's the difference. Every character in VF is different, aside from a few attacks certain characters share. Either way, I can play with one character for a while and then switch to another with it being a totally new experience. However, with Burst Limit, every character was almost the same. The only real differences were the super and ultimate attacks, but other than that core gameplay is basically the same... why? This is a next-gen game. From the last games (the last one I've played was... well, I can't remember which one it was exactly, but it is fairly old... definitely before Tenkaichi (sp?)) they've taken away a fair amount on the story mode, a fair load of characters, a lot of the moves the characters could do and, what have they given us? Better graphics and drama pieces. The graphic improvement is a great one, no lie, and the drama pieces are a welcome difference, but pray tell why after taking so much away the melee combat is still so unchanged, lackluster and practically the same for every character? That was a major dissapointment for me, how lacking in evolution the core-gameplay was.

I'm just ranting anyway. It was a decent game, but to me it was a disappointment. 5/10, and that's being generous. It's good to look at and decent to play for a while, but after that there ain't much else to it other than repetition IMO. Don't let me put you off though, it's definitely worth a rental, or at least a wait until it's in a bargain bin. Or you could just do what I did and get a refund if you don't like it. Like I said though, it's worth at least a look.

How did you get a refund? I understand what your saying....I am gonna wait until i get the majority of the drama pieces though before I make a final judgement....I just think alot of people online are idiots!

re: The "I got it!" thread

www.game.co.uk

If you send a game back within a week (I think) just saying it's faulty you can get a full refund, no questions asked. I finished the z chronicles on the third day I had it (was off work being ill, so had nothing else to do) and got bored of online and getting high scores by the fifth, so sent it back.

And there are a lot of judgemental people, but at the end of the day if someone is obtuse enough not to give the game a try, at least, it's their loss, 'cause they may really like it.

With me though, I think of it like a really nice cake (bare with me here). Now, a lot of people would try a piece of really nice cake and then want some more, and more, and more, until eventually they grow sick of it. I, in this metaphor, had a slice of cake and enjoyed it, but didn't want anymore because I would rather be happy with the slice I had then eat too much and get sick of it, know what I mean?
