Despite the Steam database leaks not so long ago, we couldn't be certain that Brutal Legend was coming to PC until... now. Double Fine put out the word that their love letter to heavy metal is now available for preorder on Steam. Not only does the preorder include TF2 hats, but also access to the game's ongoing multiplayer beta. There's no tentative release date as of yet, but expect Double Fine to release the game as soon as it's ready.

Tim Schafer being Tim Schafer provided the following excellent statement in the announcement's press release:

"Adding a PC release to Brütal Legend’s list of conquests risks raising the world’s ambient Metal saturation to dangerously high levels, which is why we’re conducting this closed beta test for preorders."

Brutal Legend will be available for $20 at launch, though those that preorder through Steam will receive a 25% discount and pick up the game for only $15. If "blowing souls" and "spreading the word of Metal" are things you enjoy doing, then we'd recommend trying out the game. It's certainly no Psychonauts, but as Double Fine's biggest project ever it's worth experiencing.

Double Fine is also making available a 252-page hardcover art book for Brutal Legend, which can be pre-purchased for $50 over at the Double Fine shop.
