Dang, developers aren't holding back. April Fool's Day is going to be non-stop this year, huh? Eidos Montreal has announce Deus Ex: Human Defiance, an 8-bit take on the the Deus Ex modernization of the franchise. You see, the secrets of the future lie in the past. Unfortunately, even the studio doesn't support the game's development, so it needs your support to get made or something. Check out the official site to lend your support.
Here's a quick summary provided by Eidos Montreal:
"Introducing Deus Ex: Human Defiance, the first adventures of Adam Jensen in full, glorious 8-bit. Human Revolution brought about the cyber-Renaissance, Human Defiance marks the beginning of a Digital Golden Age. Human Revolution was all about triangles. Now we're doubling down, flipping one over and revelling at its brand new form: the square... the pixel. It's a natural evolution!"
Of course, Eidos isn't stopping at just making an exciting 2D sequel to Human Revolution, there's also a ton of new features that Deus Ex fans are sure to love. Here's a short list taken from the game's pitch video and website:
- Classic Deus Ex Pillars
- Tack challenges in a variety of ways
- Choices have consequences
- Secrets and more secrets, also conspiracy
- Improved Experiences
- Polished graphics
- Improved AI
- Non-Lethal boss fights
- New cities like Montreal
- Augmented Gameplay
- Killer (and non-killer) weapons
- Overpowered augmentations
- Co-op multiplayer with Jensen and JC Denton
Make sure to check out Eidos Montreal's April Fool's Day webpage for Deus Ex: Human Defiance for screenshots of the 2D retro throwback and other details. Also, who knows what will happen if their "Show Your Support" measuring bar of Facebook likes actually reaches 250k.
Not exactly what I imagined when Human Defiance was trademarked earlier this month. Definitely not a movie, that's for sure. Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut just launched on Wii U, show your support and hopefully we'll get a new Deus Ex soon (a real one).
