Dragon Bash is winding down in Guild Wars 2, so you better get your fill of killing pirates this next week before July 9 rolls around. What happens then, you wonder? The next big event, called Bazaar of the Four Winds.
Once again, a giant airship is coming, known as the "Zephyr Sanctum," and it's quite the ship. A new mini-game joins the mess of new events coming up, as well. Here's the lineup:
Developer Livestream – July 8
Take an inside look at the Bazaar of the Four Winds release with ArenaNet devs during the preview livestream on our Twitch channel on Monday, July 8 at 12PM PDT.
New Mini-game: Belcher’s Bluff – Begins July 9
Put your Omnomberry Juice drinking skills to the test in this new, permanent mini-game. Seek out challengers around the world to learn their signature skills, then challenge your friends in PvP mode!
Sanctum Sprint – Begins July 9
Take part in Sanctum Sprint , a competitive race that will send you leaping over barriers and flying through the air! You’ll need to use cunning, agility, and some special skills to navigate this dizzying obstacle course.
Lessons from the Sky – Begins July 9
Explore the Labyrinthine Cliffs in this scavenger hunt which will lead you in search of Sky Crystals. Show your mastery of Wind, Sun, and Lightning as you find your way to hard-to-reach places.
The rewards that are being teased may be the best in the game thus far... or a step in the right direction, at the very least. You can, for instance, finish a meta achievement and get yourself a permanent Quartz (a new resource coming soon) node for your home instance. You can also earn a little Zephyr Sanctum model, because that sounds pretty cute.
What's more exciting is that those achievements points you've been amassing since August 2012 will finally be seeing proper use. With the next update, players will be able to unlock rewards like armor and weapon skins, laurels, gold, gems, "powerful items," plus other account bonuses, through earning achievement points on their account. Rewards will also be given retroactively, for those of us with a ton of points already.
Other changes to look forward to include a "new and improved" achievement panel UI, the new "Skyhammer" PVP map, and WvW Build and Repair Masteries, which let you use supplies or build weapons more efficiently.
We'll no doubt be hearing more as July 9 draws nearer.
