Was going to post this in a news thread, but it contained too many URLs and ate my post. So instead, thread!
Event started at Canach's Folly, with an escort mission for some NPCs. We had to lead them to a cave/nest in the north (Karka Hive), so they could plant some bombs. There were quite a lot of people there.

Fortunately for those of us who wanted a challenge, there were
also tons of Karka. Everywhere. Veterans and Champions alike. There were enough players around where we were fighting rather invisible enemies a lot, but the lag itself wasn't unplayable, and to an extent the surprise of having a Karka suddenly appear on your face was rather fun.

...until the Fire Nation attacked

Yes, this event was so incredibly difficult, that the
open world rampage group wiped.

I have never seen so many bodies in GW2. The roll attack Karka have is a very powerful move and would just slaughter people by the dozen. Eventually, we managed to fight our way from the middle, to the bottom, to the top of the cave, and let the NPCs plant their bombs. All in all this took like an hour or so, it was a long, hard fight.
Not nearly as hard however, as the following quest. Lead an Ancient Karka from Driftglass Springs (an area to the east), all the way back to the cave. This event took
more than two hours, and was far too laggy for most players to actually function. Being an engineer, I swapped all my utility skills for turrets, and did nothing but set them up and let them be turrets. The lag between input and execution on skills was anywhere from 5 seconds to over a minute depending on the player's rig. It was pretty bad. In order, to scare the Ancient Karka back to the cave, we had to:
- Collapse a tree on it's head
- Defeat multiple waves of Karka, ending with a Champion
- blow debris off some water pools, using the rubble to smack the crab
- Trigger a rockslide
- More waves of Karka, ending with two Champions (this was right outside Captain's Retreat)
- Uncover little volcano-things in Scoured Plains to knock the crab towards the cave with the resulting explosion.
Once in the cave, we had to scare the giant enemy crab up and down the giant ramp in order for the NPCs to set off the bombs from earlier. Once it's armor was completely destroyed, it jumped down to the bottom for it's final stand.
After over three hours of painstaking work, this was it, the final battle, mob of angry players, versus Giant Enemy Crab. All of that time, pain, and lag, all culminated to one fight. One final stand.

Yeah we toasted that crab in like, less than a minute, it was a complete pushover.

And I mean that literally.

That crab burned.

Was a cinematic, a very pretty cinematic.

I'm rather running out of things to say about this crab.
I'll be back.-Arnold S.

So yeah, very burned crab. I danced on it's corpse after this was all over.

Well, after booking it for the chest, which contained (for every player):
- 2 random rares
- 2 random exotics
- 20 slot bag
- Ancient Karka Shell, lv80 Exotic Accessory, gives 25 to Power, Precision, Toughness, Vitality, Healing, and Condition Damage. As well as 3% Magic Find and Critical Damage.
Thus, event. Certainly not
bad, was pretty fun and I enjoyed myself. The lag reminded me of the River of Tears event from Rift though, which is to say, it was really,
really bad.
