Any veterans?

No and yes.

I have previously owned Dragon Quest IV for the NES - just about the most expensive NES title I've ever picked up used. I didn't know they ported it over the SNES though, probably could've picked it up a fair bit cheaper.

I'd played through half of it on the NES when I borrowed it from a friend, but I never had a copy nor did I ever complete it, so I'm excited to be able to finish the story.

I played through the DW IV on the original NES. I was also renting it, as I think the only place that had it in Phoenix for sale wanted like $80. I made it all the way to the final boss, but needed to level up some for to beat him through all his evolutions... for some reason I had to risk my saved game and couldn't re-rent immediately. Of course, once I could rent it again my file was erased! Fortunately, another player had also made it to the end named "War" as a female hero, so ended up beating it on her(?) file.

I remember the heroin's name, because at the time my lonely 14 year old created the fantasy that "War" was some local hot female RPGer I might run into the next time I was renting a game at blockbuster. Needless to say, that never came to pass...

I just started the DS update and am enjoying the new graphics and the dialog that was left out of the NES version
