Why wont these deathclaws just die????

I've been running into deathclaws everywhere from the train station to the Arlington library to the bridge of rivet city. I've shot them with everything i have but the only thing i have that seems to do the trick is my experimental MIRV, surely theres a less expensive method? any ideas?

I don't know what difficulty level you're playing on, but I played a stealthy character recently and if you can get a stealth crit with the terrible shotgun, they can often be dead in one shot from normal difficulty down.. higher than that, stealth again is my tactic, but make a path of mines that you can trick them into running down, i was surprised at how powerful they actually are!

Well there you go. Deathclaws on Hard are incredibly annoying and nearly impossible to beat.

Your best bet is to always score a sneak attack on them first with a sniper rifle. After that, maybe throw a couple bottle mines at them and shoot them with your Terrible Shotgun.
