Guess it makes up for the caraven traders and normal traders with not so much caps to buy things from you

I think Walter dies because he gets stuck trying to walk through the pool in the center of town on his way home from Moriarty's saloon, and thus dies of radiation poisoning. I found him lying beside the pool. If you save your scrap metal, you can trade them in to winthrop for healing items in Underworld (museum of history).

And the scribe who buys the books for the brotherhood is in the archives. Moira sends you there to find the library's card catalog. However, mine wound up dead. I think the raiders got her when they made a break for freedom.

The Brotherhood Scribe Yearling that purchases the pre-war books is not in the Archives, nor is she in the Museum of History.

Travel to the Arlington Library to find this character.


Make sure that in the initial meeting you do not insult her, or your chance to sell her books will be lost.


Also junk vendors will have pre-war books for sale. They have a different colored cover than a normal pre war book. If you buy these "fakes", Scribe Yearling will not take them from you. You will have to drop all your pre-war books one by one, and leave the fakes with the wrong colored cover on the ground to get her to take your book stack.
